100% Pure’s range of fruity potions and lotions are not only wonderfully refreshing with their mouth-watering scents, they are also organic and 100% vegan. The shower gel in pink grapefruit is a juicy delight. Upon opening, the olfactory senses are immediately hit by sharp citrus notes laced with sweetness; a true treat for lovers of grapefruit scents. I love the combination of tart and sweet!
The liquid consistency might not be a hit with people used to thicker shower washes and it is difficult to control how much one uses. However, after one or two tries, you should be able to gauge the amount needed. My concern is that it seems to finish very quickly as a result of its thin texture. Unlike Lush’s Happy Hippy which mixes easily with water to form more cleansing power, this is almost akin to using juice to wash oneself (doesn’t sound half bad, really!).
My bottle of Pink Grapefruit looks like juice but it seems to develop some viscosity, when left standing. Shaking it creates an emulsion but the runny quality remains.
In Singapore, a decent range of 100% Pure products is available at Bud Cosmetics, located at Square 2 (next to Novena Square).
According to the website:
Pink Grapefruit is abundant with Vitamin C, lycopene, liminoids, and naringin – all potent antioxidants to help fight against pre-mature ageing of skin. This shower gel contains fresh squeezed Pink Grapefruit which refreshes and purifies, leaving your skin clean and invigorated. The clean, crisp aroma of Pink Grapefruit essential oil also revitalises and uplifts the spirits.
It goes on to justify the consistency of the product:
100% Pure shower gels are thin because there are no thickeners or any other fillers ingredients to dilute or degrade the pure natural formulas. The shower gels do not contain any harsh chemical detergents that strip, irritate or dehydrate the skin.
It also states Pink Grapefruit’s ‘Nothing to Hide Ingredients’:
Pink Grapefruit Juice, Coco-betaine (coconut derived cleanser), Vitamin C (calcium ascorbate), Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Extracts of Grapefruit Seed, Lemon, Blueberry, Raspberry, Blackberry, Strawberry, and Rosemary, Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil, Sodium Hydroxymethylglycinate (Plant amino acid), Rose Ether.
This 473 ml bottle costs under S$30 (S$27.90) at Bud. A quick click on the 100% Pure website reveals a newer version that is 455 ml and which seems to be in a slightly different packaging. There, I also noticed the term ‘richly-foaming’, which does not describe the one I have. The composition of ingredients is a little different as well. Perhaps the ones available at Bud are from an older range.
Before this shower gel, the only item I’d ever tried from 100% Pure was their star product, the Organic Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream. I look forward to trying more of their bath and body products – aside from the positive organic quality, I love true citrus scents and there seems to a wide range of these from the brand!
This sounds delicious. I’d probably be tempted to drink it ;)
Xgirl – X-actly. ;)
It looks and feels just like juice…and no, I haven’t tasted it. :P
Love the new look, Mag! :D
Thank you Renee!
I value your opinion – you know how much I love the clean feel of your site! :)
