You might have read my review of these products in The Straits Times Urban pull-out yesterday. :) If you haven’t, here are my thoughts on these colouring lovelies:
1. By Terry Ombre Blackstar Color-Fix Cream Eyeshadow in 2 Silver Granit
A simple shimmery silver at first glance, this crease-resistant shadow pencil surprised me with its gold sparkles strewn within the silver, adding a beautiful complexity. It’s great on the eyelids and as an all-over wash.
2. Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in 07 Super Strawberry
Emollient and buttery soft, this retractable fatty pencil for lips has surprising pigment for a balm and is less sheer than you’d expect. I also like the lustrous feel of the wearable raspberry pink tint.
3. Ettusais Pencil Eye Glitter in Violet
I love the pretty violet of this smooth pencil. The sweet feminine hue flatters Asian eyes, while the smooth silver micro-glitter adds a subtle twinkle to the lids.
4. Holika Holika Magic Palette Pastel Shadow in 01
You can use a brush to pick up colour from these chalks but I like to use them straight for more colour pay-off. They can be a little unwieldy but I like that the softly glimmering sherbet hues can be blended together – the resulting interplay of colours is simply beautiful!
5. RMK Crayon & Powder Eyes in 02 Light Green
A nifty dual-ended product, the iridescent green crayon goes on evenly and imparts a pretty reflective sheen, while the softly shimmery eyeshadow powder in a complementary shade on the other end helps to set the pencil. However, I have some difficulty picking up the shadow with the sponge tip applicator.
6. Stila Long Wear Lip Color in Phenomenal
This retractable lip pencil applies evenly and smoothly but it doesn’t last as promised. I do like that the deep berry-rust shade can be built up without caking or looking heavy.
7. Topshop Crayon in Satchel
This neutral brown shade will appeal to the office crowd and the smattering of subtle gold sparkles gives it a touch of interest. It cleans off easily and isn’t as lasting as the Urban Decay pencil but will suit those with dry eyelids.
8. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Rehab
Richly-pigmented, blendable and budgeproof once set, this shimmery deep chocolate shadow pencil is perfect for those who want lasting, intense colour. It’s great for people with oily lids too.
I have a penchant for pencils and crayons, fatty or thin – they are handy and make for easy application. I particularly love using them as eyeshadow bases; some of the ones here blend and wear beautifully!

I love the Chubby Stick too. Like the colour of the Top Shop pencil!
Hi Sam,
The Topshop pencil only costs S$13 here; a great buy. :)
I saw your reviews! So happy for you :)
Thanks, Lynn! :)
I love pencils and crayons too! I am so intrigued by the by terry and those pastels look really interesting.
Hi Christina,
The By Terry pencil will make a good base. The pastel chalks surprised me with how prettily they layered; the end-effect reminded me almost of MAC Lightscapade, only deeper in tone. :)
