Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Colors

Creamy, lustrous and crease-resistant, this rainbow of colours from the Shiseido Autumn 2011 collection is a tactile and visual pleasure!

Created by Dick Page, the brand’s Makeup Artistic Director, these cream eyeshadows are made with Super Hydro-Wrap Vitalizing DE (an original Shiseido moisturising ingredient) and have been proven to last 16 hours.

Set to be part of Shiseido’s permanent colour range, they replace the older range of Hydro-Powder Eye Shadows.

With the revamp, the new shadows are packaged in a sleek pot with a lid shaped like the brand’s by-now-familiar camellia logo.

Unlike the Hydro-Powder pots which have a smaller mouth and more depth, the Shimmering Cream Eye Color pots are flatter and their circumference wider, allowing easier access to the product.

These new shadows (S$32/6 g) are not only more affordable than the Hydro-Powders (S$39 for the same amount of product), they are also improved versions of the latter, being richer in colour and smoother in texture.

Whilst some of the Hydro-Powders have a gritty feel (the sparkle ones have this feature) and a few go on somewhat sheerly, the new Shimmering Cream Eye Colors are silky-smooth and are, for the most part, superbly pigmented.

  • BK912 Caviar

I love how easy it is to pick up the product and how they swatch evenly without skipping. Happily, they stay put once set.

I’m especially taken with Caviar, the rich and velvety black cream shadow; a terrific base for an intense smokey eye. It’s perfect for intensifying colours and setting off iridescent shades too. Mist also caught my eye, being a pearlescent pink-tinged white that sparkles beautifully.

Above are the inspirations for the shadows. I love how the brand has translated the beauty of colour in nature and everyday items into these stunning hues!

Shiseido Singapore shares these tips:

1. Place the pots upside down after use to prolong their lifespan and to prevent separation of oil and water in the creams.

2. It is not necessary to apply a base before using these; their formula is such that they will adhere to bare skin and show up ‘as-is’, versus being diluted by other products beneath them.

3. Apply them with fingertips for a natural finish but use a brush or sponge tip applicator for a more intense effect.

These pretty colours will launch in Singapore in late August 2011.
