New from Sleek Makeup are these little tubes of intense lip colours. Made in Taiwan, they are not only great for amping up and transforming an existing lip hue, they’re also fantastic for creating new lip shades.
The brand may call them lip stains but so highly-pigmented are they that they certainly don’t have the sheerness that the words ‘lip stain’ generally bring to mind. When I received the press samples, I was quite impressed by the wallop of rich colour each petite tube (8 g) imparts.
The tapered tip of the tube is perfect for dispensing controlled amounts of the creamy product.
Thanks to their intense pigments, a smidgeon of a smidgeon goes a long way!
- Pin Up is a deep cherry red that would make a gorgeous glamorous lip.
- Peek-a-Bloo is a sky blue, great for cooling warm tones.
- Cloud 9 is a white that tames the depth of other tones while adding opacity.
- Peachy Keen is an apricot, good for adding a touch of warmth to cool tones.
As with other lip crèmes, you can opt to tone them down with a clear gloss. Bearing a sweet citrus scent, they also contain sweet almond oil. I really love that their non-sticky, even consistency lends them the ability to be mixed – you can easily create your own unique hues with them.
On the left is Pin Up mixed with Peek-a-Bloo to form a blackened berry. On the right is all four shades mixed together, the result of which is an opaque grape. The latter is interesting but I prefer the berry! ;)
These tubes of concentrated colours retail at £4.99 and can be found at Superdrug stores in the UK. They are also available at the Sleek Makeup website which ships internationally.
These reaally look like poster paint tubes! :-) I suppose the blue Peek-a-Boo and white Cloud 9 are mainly for mixing colors.
Hi Milktea,
Yes, they’re great for that purpose! :) They can be used for fashion or stage work too.
The mixture of “Pin Up” and “Peek-a-Bloo” look really Pretty!!! “Peachy Keen” look like a lovely blush shade! (Will it be too oily/waxy to be use on the cheeks??)
Hello Chantana!
I haven’t tried them as blushes because they’re meant for the lips but yes, they feel a touch too oily to be used on the cheeks.
ooo do try them on your lips! the berry colour would look SO HOT on u, sexy mama!
Hi Sarah,
I love such shades! :D I know you will have a blast playing with these; they’re great for SFX work too.
