Bella Box February 2012

Here’s a look at the February 2012 Bella Box that I recently received from the subscription beauty box company.

 In it are:

  • Ansley Pure Pop Superstar Eyeshadow and Eyeliner in 02 Silky Brown
  • Belif Hydra Sebum Control Essence (10 ml)
  • Duchess Marden Body Serum (4 ml)
  • NVey Eco Eyeshadow Single in 150 (pan refill)
  • A sample vial of DKNY Pure Verbena

It’s a smallish offering in a down-scaled box (the latter a laudable move to cut wastage) but still value for money, given the two makeup items.

While I welcome the subdued shade of the Nvey Eco eyeshadow pan (a matte grey), I’m a little disconcerted by its pan form – not every subscriber would have an empty well in their refillable compacts or even a palette to speak of. Perhaps this pared-down packaging can be attributed to Bella Box’s new eco-stance?

Like the December 2011 box, this month’s box has a stand-out makeup item – the eyeshadow/eyeliner duo from Korean brand Ansley. Similar to the Tony Moly Backstage Self Smoky Eye Collection in 02 I’d reviewed, this is cleverly packaged for creating a complete look: the flip-top upper compartment houses two eyeshadow colours, while the bottom plastic jar holds a gel liner that can easily double up as an eyeshadow base. All three colours in Silky Brown are wearable neutrals. A synthetic brush for the gel liner completes the set.

With a retail price of S$16.90, it adequately covers the S$15 fee for the subscription box; the three tiny tasters are just bonuses, I guess! ;)
