Review | Clé de Peau Beauté Luminizing Face Enhancer in 11 Pastel

Here are the new Clé de Peau Beauté Luminizing Face Enhancers, part of the brand’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Inspired by seashell spirals that seemingly radiate light when bathed in the sun’s glow, these multi-dimensional face illuminators are beauties to behold, both inside and out.

With its faceted planes, the sturdy compact of these luminous lovelies looks like a jewel.

I love how its mirrored exterior reflects its surroundings with kaleidoscopic effect.

The pan itself is softly faceted, giving subtle visual dimension to the powder. I’m invariably drawn to Pastel – with its shimmery lavender, beige, and blue hues, it’s a highlighter after my own heart; I simply cannot resist blue and lavender tones in an illuminating product! (Remember MAC Lightscapade and Anna Sui Mystic Rose?)

Happily, it’s not just another highlighting powder. Of all the pressed illuminating products I own, this is the silkiest in texture, its ultra-refined particles gossamer-light; imparting a diaphanous veil of radiance to the visage. I love its kiss of luminosity which can be gradually layered for more pronounced sculpting effect without looking harsh. Its refined nature means it can be used all over the face too. It won’t obscure facial imperfections but it can visibly soften their appearance.

The powder is clearly of superior quality but it still is somewhat dear…though not as much as I thought it could’ve been, given that Clé de Peau products perch at the high-end of the price spectrum. In addition, while I’m satisfied with dressed-down packaging – as long as the product works (Lightscapade itself sits in a non-descript black compact) – it’s nice to experience a touch of luxe, once in a while.

This is a preview sample but I certainly would’ve purchased Pastel on my own. I am particularly cheered by the fact that it’s permanent to the Clé de Peau makeup range and that it comes in a refill form – perfect for when I hit pan.

With its warmer tones, Luminizing Face Enhancer in 12 Gold is the perfect counterpart to the cool-toned pastels.

In Singapore, these gorgeous Made-in-Japan palettes are priced at S$140 (pan+case), while the refill pans are S$95.
