Review | Kiss Me Heavy Rotation Creamy Cheeks in 02 Cutey Pink

New from Heavy Rotation is Creamy Cheeks, a cream blush in a sturdy squeeze tube.

More hygienic than the pan form of Canmake Cream Cheek, this blush has a tapered tip that dispenses just the right amount of product. It might look unassuming but it packs a punch with its incredibly pigmented contents – a little really does go a very long way.

All you need is a dot – I recommend that you start with the size of a rainbow sprinkle and build up to the size of a small sago bead, if you desire more colour.

A sweet strawberry milk pink with the faintest of shimmer, Cutey Pink matches many of my cool-toned eye and lip products and is a healthy flush of colour (I’m not so fond of its kawaii name, though :P).

It’s not a hard-fast stain like Benefit Benetint or Stila Lip & Cheek Stains, so there is some room for play before it sets. However, it’s best to start off with a smidgeon and layer for your desired intensity as it cannot be toned down easily without patchiness – when I tried to blend out a strong application of my preview sample, I ended up with unevenness of colour. Building up its intensity, rather than blending out the excess, works better for this blush.

On its own, it does fade, especially if you have oily skin or use it over an emollient base (it faded considerably when I applied it over Clarins UV Plus HP Sunscreen in Neutral recently). It doesn’t disappear completely, thankfully; a faint wash of colour still remains. I like it best as a base for powder blushes (after foundation, before face powder).

Weighing 7 g, this cream blush retails at a very affordable S$15.90. Two other colours are available: 01 Baby Pink and 03 Peach Pink. All three cheek hues can be found at Watsons stores.
