NARSskin

New from Nars is NARSskin, a skincare range comprising 9 items that place emphasis on hydration and luminosity.

Reflective of the brand’s pared-down packaging, the names of the products are fuss-free and speak for themselves.

In the range are:

  • Double Refining Exfoliator
  • Gentle Cream Cleanser
  • Purifying Foam Cleanser
  • Multi-Action Hydrating Toner
  • Optimal Brightening Concentrate
  • Luminous Moisture Cream
  • Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer
  • Aqua Gel Luminous Mask
  • Total Replenishing Eye Cream

I’m pretty enamoured of the sleek packaging that embodies the chic character of the brand. The pearlised tubes are pretty (they remind me of mother of pearl) but I especially love the sharp angles of the cubic jars and bottles.

The products are paraben-free but not fragrance-free – I sniffed some of them at the brand’s media event and they had citrus notes that were somewhat synthetic at first whiff but settled nicely.

According to the New York Times:

(They have) the gentle scent of orange, grapefruit, violets or roses. They use some ingredients from French Polynesia (where Mr. Nars owns the private island Motu Tané), including seawater, which he said is rich in calcium, magnesium and potassium because of its contact with volcanic stone. The serum contains noni juice, which besides conjuring a tropical idyll is supposed to perk up a dull complexion.

I tested one of the moisturisers, as well as the eye cream, on the back of my hand and like their smooth texture. My skin absorbed them well too.

The best skin is skin that can reflect light. – François Nars

NARSskin replaces the brand’s previous skincare range which by all accounts isn’t as exciting as this one. In Singapore, this new range will be available in November 2012 when the brand launches at the revamped Tangs Beauty Hall.
