Review | Crabtree & Evelyn Wisteria Bath & Shower Gel

A while ago, I received this body wash from Crabtree & Evelyn. I’ve been using it recently, enjoying its unusual scent that’s both floral and leafy.

Extracts of wisteria, peony, elderflower, and magnolia combine with glycerine…Blended with subtle notes of gardenia and ylang ylang blossoms, mandarin, and nashi pear, surrounded with a hint of airy musk.

– Crabtree & Evelyn

It’s sweet without being too feminine, the soft musk notes adding an edge of complexity to the fragrance. A calming scent with just a touch of an invigorating whiff, it’s a pleasant olfactory surprise in a body wash.

The bottle is pretty, with pleasant water-colour daubs of wisteria blooms and their vines; the purples, blues and greens make a lovely colour combination. Unfortunately, I am finding difficulty in dispensing the liquid of late – squeezing the angular bottle seems to cause a suction action, impeding the flow of the liquid. I didn’t have a problem with the brand’s Pomegranate and Avocado, Olive and Basil shower gels, both in cylindrical bottles. In the end, I simply unscrew the top to pour out the wash.

As with other bath and shower gels from Crabtree & Evelyn, it lathers well, leaving my skin feeling clean but not bereft of moisture. The scent lingers on my skin in a non-overwhelming way, something I appreciate. I sometimes sniff my wrists and arms post-shower to take in the smell. :)

In Singapore, this shower gel (250 ml) retails at S$35 and has a body lotion (245 ml) counterpart that retails at S$40.
