An invigorating citrus body scrub, this product from The Body Shop is one of the better body exfoliators in the market.
With scrubby bits that feel organic (read: no rounded synthetic beads) yet not abrasive, it gives a satisfying exfoliating experience but does not rub the skin raw. It’s this balance that makes showering with it a pleasure.
The gel crème base is lovely too – the consistency isn’t too rich or greasy; mixing it with water actually turns it into a cream sorbet texture that feels silky on the skin. It foams up adequately, cleansing effectively in tandem with the exfoliants. I can see a visible difference post-wash – my skin looks cleaner and feels much smoother.
I haven’t seen the ingredient list but according to the brand, it contains 100% natural-origin citrus ingredients. It also has mint in it, I believe, because it leaves a cooling sensation similar to that of this ingredient. The light scent actually reminds me of a lemon mint drop! ;)
The mechanism of my press piece seems a touch unwieldy, the metal parts somewhat unyielding when I try to open or close the glass jar. Once fastened, though, the jar is pretty secure, which makes it suitable for travel.
In Singapore, this zesty body scrub retails at S$42.90 (200 ml). Slightly pricey but well worth the money for its efficacious performance.
To complete the skin-pampering experience, the brand recommends their Satsuma Body Butter (S$30.90/200 ml). An intensive body cream, it contains Community Traded melon seed oil, as well as shea and cocoa butter, to moisturise the skin post-exfoliation. I haven’t tried it but with its sweet orange notes, it’d make an apt scent complement to the scrub.
