Made in Italy, this new eyeshadow palette from Burberry Beauty contains 4 densely-pigmented and complementary eye colours.
Smokes always catch my eye and this quad was no exception – I was immediately drawn to its quartet of matching hues when I first saw it at the counter. I didn’t have time for swatches then but Burberry Beauty Singapore recently sent me this palette, giving me the chance to play with it at leisure.
In it are:
- A luminescent ivory
- A shimmery gunmental
- A matte smokey pewter
- A satin black
The ivory and grey are buttery-smooth and deposit colour easily. They can be almost too-pigmented, so do use a light hand if you prefer something less strong.
The pewter can skip a little as a swatch but it applies like silk on the eye – this, together with its lovely taupe overtone, makes it an excellent shade for my socket indent.
The black is wonderful with its satin sheen and depth, lending effortless definition and properly finishing a smokey eye.
While its ability to create a complete eye and its complementary colour combination are great, what really gives this quad my firm stamp of approval is the blendability of the colours and how seamlessly they feather into one another, the transition almost-imperceptible.
According to the brand, ‘the skin protecting, glide-on formula is blended with satin smooth silicones and enriching conditioners’. Perhaps this accounts for their texture and blending prowess.
The palette has a nett weight of 5.4 g (1.9 oz).
Like the brand’s makeup compacts, it comes with a protective velvet case that is marked with the distinctive Burberry check.
The pouch, designed for travel, holds 3 eye brushes: A slanted liner brush, a sponge-tip applicator and an eyeshadow brush.
They might have the brand’s name classily printed on their handles but they don’t feel particularly special. Nonetheless, they will serve their purpose, if you’re in a pinch. I much prefer to use my own brushes, of course.
Like the pouch, the metallic compact bears the brand’s signature check print. I love its luxe heft and pewter shine.
In Singapore, this pleasing palette retails at S$85. Happily, it will be part of the brand’s permanent makeup range. I wouldn’t say you need it (I surely don’t, given my extensive stash of smokey shades) but it’s a treat and is workhorse-worthy, if you have a penchant for smokes. ;)
These palettes do look nice and I have my eye on this smokey quad too. I can’t wait to land my paws on one ;-)
Hi Lyn,
Thanks for coming by! Hope you’ve been well.
Is there Burberry Beauty in MY? If so, where is it? Would love to know your thoughts on this palette!
Mag, this is the one I bought. I am hoping to see the line when I’m in California soon and maybe buy another but I wanted to move away from my constant browns.
I’ll link this when I get around to reviewing!! Your eye is gorgeous as usual.
Hi Marcia,
Thanks, Mar!
I’m looking forward to your review. Does it show up very differently on your PPP skintone?
Very pretty Meg! This is the one palette I’ll definitely go for out of the range.
Hi Tracy,
How are you? Hope you’ve been well. Thanks for coming by! :)
It’s well-worth the money. Would love to know what you think of it when you get it!
You did such a beautiful job with the palette Mag. I’m never been interested in greys but this looks so awesome I’m sitting up to notice it.
Thanks, Jac!
Since you don’t own something like this, I have to urge you to get it! ;)
Thanks for this! The price is great. Just S$5 more than UK’s.
You’re welcome, Cath! I’m looking at Pale Pink Taupe No. 7 now. :P
That is just gorgeous! Going to look for it next time I’m near a counter, Burberry cosmetics are getting some rave reviews.
It’s a beauty, Sam! Happy Burberry shopping. Please share what you’ve bought! :)
