My midnight adventure: going shopping at Mustafa – lots of interesting beauty products, stationery and odds n ends!

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Jan,

I agree – there’s so much to explore at Mustafa. They have the most unusual condiment there too. ;)

Here’s a midnight adventure story of mine!
A group of friends and I went night cycling at midnight from East Coast Park to Geylang for supper, then to Marina Barrage where we cycled along the F1 pit, stopped over at Lasalle for games then back to East Coast Park to catch the sunrise! :)

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Joanne,

What a lovely memory. I think the night adventures I’ve had with friends are some of the most memorable ones I have. :)

I’m a university student, once I stayed back in school to discuss project. We parted at 11pm plus, since they head towards the carpark and I’m heading to the Mrt. The way out of school isn’t friendly at all. My usual walkway was extremely quiet and dark this time. Worst is when i reach the main gate, it’s locked! I got to walk all the way back to snd try the other exit. Randomly i see people sitting around in the dark, but not sure if they are who i saw; who will sit around in the campus in the middle of the night!? The whole walkabout in campus took me more than half hour, drained half my soul away.. It’s not much of an exciting midnight adventure for you to hear, but it sure is an adventure for myself to walk around the campus alone.

I’ve had many midnight adventures over the years but the ones I enjoy most now are my meet ups with the night owl group. We’re a group of moms who meet up during supper time after all the kiddos are asleep. Chats usually go into the wee hours of the morning. It’s a great time to share stories and laugh together about life. I really look forward to continuing to walk my parenting journey with them!

  • J says:

It’s a silly little memory, but it makes me smile every time i think about it.

My one little midnight adventure has got to be the first time I got to spend time outside with the boy I liked! It was all very giggly and cute, then we were awkward little teenagers hanging after a NYE church service. We somehow plonked ourselves at the fitness corner (how unromantic) and spent ages talking about school, pets and nonsense topics like this.

He was the first boy I liked so this was all very exciting to me- fast forward five years, and I’m stoked to say that I’m officially dating this boy, and we still talk about nonsense topics!

    • makeupmag says:

Aww, so sweet, J. Crush memories and time spent with them can make us smile. How lovely that this developed in the nicest way for you!

  • Anne says:

My midnight advantage happened many years ago..i was walking home alone at closed to midnight…and while walking, i felt that someone, or something was following me behind my back..like “it” was staring at me…i started to get very scared and simply run as fast as i could…..it was very very scary :p

My friends and I usually have a christmas gathering on christmas eve where we will gather at a friend’s place to have a small stayover. I remember, we baked in the middle of the night, and endless rounds of majong and a movie marathon to celebrate christmas last year. Our midnight adventure was cosy and a heartwarming one. I am hoping we could do it again this year!

This reminded me a bit of the Estée Lauder ANR.

  • Yvonne says:

My midnight adventure happened some years back, when a group of us decided to stay overnight in Sentosa (we didn’t know we were not supposed to if we didn’t have proper rooms and all). So we were all showering at the public toilets near the beach when all our pagers started ringing and vibrating at the stroke of midnight. We never did find out the why, but we did manage to all get out.. =]

  • Sukaasini says:

Ive had plenty of midnight adventures for the past 4 years and that would mainly be hanging out with my girlfriends overnight!

My favourite of all our overnight adventures would just be our sleepovers where we all huddle together and talk for hours, put on masks, gossip into the wee hours of the morning and laugh so loudly that our neighbours are sure to curse at us. At the ‘end’ of the day, when the sun rises, we all squeeze onto the bed and sleep soundly like one snuggly happy family! <3

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Sukaasini,

What a fun memory! Girly fun is better in the middle of the night, don’t you think? ;)

  • Lin says:

Hi Mag;) By far my most memorable midnight adventure was going to the old changi hospital with my siblings n other halfs. It was such a spooky and interesting experience. But to top it off, we were chased out from the premises in e midst of our adventure when the police came. Hehehe!!! It was definitely a night I will not forget;)
    Thanks for this giveaway Mag;)

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Lin,

Wow, who knows what would’ve happened…then again, better not to find out, ya? ;)

    Here’s mine!

During my secondary school days, a bunch of us took part in a leadership programme that involved staying 2 weeks in the school hostel. One Friday night, we sneaked out in pitch darkness (for some reason, they didn’t switch on any lights!) across the school’s older section for supper at the famous Blk 85 bak chor mee! It was loads of fun but kinda scary cos it was so dark and we also didn’t want to get caught!

  • Sharon says:

My midnight adventure is during Christmas last year, where my friends and i booked a hotel room in Orchard and had a party among ourselves, and in the midnight, a few of us went down to 7-11 to get some drinks and snacks, and we saw a police car outside a pub/KTV opposite the road and that got us curious and we walked over to kpo, and the police are patrolling the area to prevent illegal soliciting, esp during the festival seasons. It was really fun as we seldom see this kind of scenes, and we were still gossiping/observing and guessing the genders of some ladies standing outside there, who are happily chatting with some males.

  • Sharon says:

My bestfriends and I had a sleep over at one of our houses located behind Paragon when we were 15. Being crazy teenagers, we waited till the parents were asleep before sneaking out of the house through the windows in our PJs. Armed with a compact camera and clad in PJs, we should have been quite a sight walking through Orchard Rd, stopping at random monuments/objects to camwhore. As the saying goes, we only live once, I don’t think I’d have the same courage to do such a silly thing now :P

  • Joey says:

Hello ! ^^ I am not a late night person but there is this time my project group and I stayed over at a friend’s house for project. I am so sleepy that I rest for 5 minutes where my friend would wake me up later on. Without knowing what I did, I actually slap my friend when he woke me up unconsciously. Haha, it something funny to share. Least of an adventure. opps!

  • Kelly says:

I remembered I was planning a birthday surprise for my favorite boy, I had my cardboards ready saying Happy 18th Birthday & my wishes. I took a cab down to his house area instead of going up his block I went to the opposite block. When the clock stuck 12, I called him and ask him to look out of his window. & showed him the message. After awhile, we met at the 8th floor, I took out the birthday cake and sang him a birthday song but maybe we were sneaking around. One of the resident came out to check, Both of us got a shock from that resident. It was funny actually to think of it now.

  • Verlyn says:

My midnight adventure happened many years ago, when I was still a student then. Me and a group of friends went exploring deserted places in Sg, including the Old Changi Hospital. Needless to say, we were scared out of our wits upon hearing weird noises. I shall not touch on the details (:

  • Eunice says:

My midnight adventure happened many years ago when I went fishing with my dad.

Years ago, my family would build a tent at East Coast Park and we would overnight there. Me, being the active one would stay up late to fish with my dad in the dim light. Not able to see so clearly in the night made the whole fishing experience more adventurous. Many fish, including walleye and crappie, tend to bite more at night, giving us the opportunity for a better catch. We caught so many that night that I told my dad not to fish in the night ever again.

Whether fishing from shore, below a dam or along a river, standing in the water fly fishing, or drifting in a boat on a lake, night fishing is a late night adventure worth experiencing.

  • Midnite adventure? I have tons to tell. As an officer in blue, I get to experience many adventurous moments during my night shifts – from domestic problems (husband and wife fighting), people committed suicide, BGR, vice activities, maids sneaking out at nite to have some fun while employer sleeping, catching thieves. OMG .. the people that you came across at nite were amazing. A funny one will be .. a car was reported abandoned. Went down .. checked on the car. Traced ownership. called the owner but spoke to the wife and was told that husband was overseas. Wife shocked to hear that his car was found in Balestier. Without thinking twice she came down and ambushed her husband who was discovered to be having an affair with a PRC woman. Ooops!

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Rashidah,

What colourful activities people get up to…I bet the word interesting doesn’t even begin to describe the things you see!

  • Tessie says:

My midnight adventure… I was over at a friend’s place for a party. After that I had to walk out to the main road to catch a cab. It was along Adam Road area. When I finally got the cab (nobody wanted to stop), my cab driver screamed when I sleepily told him I wanted him to take the route through Khiang Hock Road (short cut to my place from my friend’s, but unfortunately is located next to a Chinese cemetery). Turns out that it’s not a good idea to wear a white maxi dress when you are going to stay out after midnight in an area like that. :)

My midnight adventure was so long ago when I was in my teenage years! Once we organised a BBQ at sembwang park in the evening till the next day morning! It was going very well, listening to radio, eating and chatting!! Untill midnight, my friend and I had a urge to go to toliet, we didn’t know that the toliet will be closed at midnight! You know la, midnight till morning was still a long way to go, we had no choice and decided to explore the beach to find a place to settle our small business. It was super windy and cold in the midnight and we found a place near the beach at a corner side, we keeping saying sorry for using the place, you know la, to the spirit lor!! It was so scarey if we will offend them!! The whole night was so long to spend!! It was my worse nightmare and worse thing I ever done in my whole life!!

My midnight adventure is unforgettable and crazy. When I was teenage, my friend and I was chatting and scrolling; we not even noticed that we have walked down from Raffles Place to Orchard Road for few hours. We want to save money so we decided to rest at Orchard kopitiam till first bus services. I fall sick after the next day because I never stay overnight or sleep late before.

My midnight adventure? I recall once being stranded in town with a camera and tripod in hand after finishing a shoot at the annual Nights Festival at the SAM. Being the Night Festival, it ended quite late. Feeling in the mood, I walked from SAM to Rochor, Shaw Towers, Esplanade and finally to MBS. My plan was to do night photography along the journey. I was a girl, alone and carrying heavy equipment. I wouldnt have been able to outrun anyone if somebody tried to do anything funny…but at least I had my tripod with me so I guess I could protect myself if I had to. ;) There were little cars at the time and I guess the journey from the Beach Road camp to Esplanade was the spookiest of all. The area was darkly lit and only sounds from the construction workers who were still working inside the compound could be heard. I had to step across this huge puddle of mud that was unavoidable, and the sidewalk was dark, full of trees with no cars nor people in sight. I decided to run for it since I didnt wanna risk anything happening. I reached the Esplanade a while later, thankfully there were people around. I got good pictures of the night scene as I walked from the Esplanade to MBS. I guess my little night adventure was worth it in the end. ;)

My midnight story would be coming home only to realised I didn’t bring my access card and having to climb the gate. Taught me a lesson and I never leave my house without my card again!

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Michelle,

Very nimble of you! I remember doing that when I was studying overnight during JC times, in school. Doubt I can hoist myself over the gates now, lol!

  • Yile says:

My midnight adventure would be walking to Li Jiang Old City in China while I was on tour at literally MIDNIGHT, with a complete stranger that i just asked for directions from! :O because the Old city’s shops were closed at midnight, all the alleys that we walked into was super dark and scary! At one instant, i even thought i met a robber!! ok.. but turns out he was just a very friendly and nice person, and we had a good night’s walk! :)

  • Paula says:

My most memorable midnight adventure would be night cycling with my peers during my varsity years! While I’m not as alert as I would be as the night progresses, I love all the pit stops at the food places like Swee Choon Dim Sum, Rochor Road Beancurd, Lau Pa Sat etc and finally ending the entire night with.. breakfast at McDonalds! After which I would head home, get a shower n plop into my warm and comfy bed to nurse my sore butt.

    • makeupmag says:

What an awesome adventure, Paula! I can’t cycle, so this was a fun read for me. I love that you made food stops along the way! :)

  • Susan Toh says:

One New Year’s Eve, a friend suddenly suggested an impromtu trip to Malaysia We picked up our passports and drove all the way to Desaru! We didn’t even bring overnight bags!

  • lydia says:

Hmm.. my midnight adventure is to cycle at east coast. not as exciting as the other people comment here :(

Hi Lydia, it still is something to remember! And I think some of the beach accounts sound spooky – better not to experience those, haha!

My best midnight adventure was when a friend and I stayed overnight at another friend’s house for a late Christmas celebration, and as she stays in the Joo Chiat/Marine Parade area, we walked over (through Joo Chiat!) for some late night shopping…*guilt* Best part of the day was when we came back and took turns showering, they surprised me with a birthday cake right when I opened the bathroom door after I was done! It was my birthday on that day(after the clock strikes 12) :D

  • esh says:
