Shu Uemura Laque Supreme for Spring 2015 (Swatches)

Shu Uemura Laque Supreme for Spring 2015

Here are quick swatches of the upcoming Shu Uemura Laque Supreme, a liquid lip collection inspired by urushi (漆), Japanese lacquer.

Promising the lustrous finish and colour richness of Japanese lacquerware, their genius lies in delivering brilliant shine and intense colour with a lightly-textured, water-based formula.

I tried a couple on my lips and was impressed by their clarity of colour: At once translucent and pigmented, their glossiness is that of a sophisticated shine. They’re fairly lasting too and non-drying, though they do transfer.

The initial laydown of colour reminds me of YSL Glossy Stains – these have the same volatile cooling sensation on the lips. Shiseido Lacquer Rouge is another similar product but the Shu Uemura version seems slightly lighter and shinier. I’ll need to compare them again, when I finally get my own Laque Supreme. :)
