Julie Hewett in Singapore

A cult brand in the US, Julie Hewett LA carries a modest range of products that runs the gamut from skincare to cosmetics. Particularly well known for its lip and cheek items, Julie Hewett is stirring the makeup world with its rouge range.

The plush pinks, comely corals and nice neutrals are lovely and wearable but it is the robust reds that set the makeup realm on fire with their assured femininity.

It is not surprising then that Julie Hewett created the striking red lips in the 2001 film, Pearl Harbor; the scene-stealing crimson shades sparking off red-lip mania all over again.

In Singapore, Julie Hewett is available at The Skin Boutique and Hide & Seek. I played with the testers one afternoon and was impressed by the evident quality of the products. Some of them have dual functions: the Floral Waters are facial mists that prime the face and set makeup, the Creme Foundation evens out skin tone and conceals blemishes, while the Cheekies are creamy blushing shades that can be used on both lips and cheeks.

The lip colours (S$28-S$40) suit most skin tones and there are a few Asian-flattering shades to be found in the JH lip collections. You would be hard put not to be able to find something for yourself.

Interestingly enough, there is also a reverse lipliner named Omit. Mel of In My Professional Opinion informed me that Omit can be used to rectify makeup application errors anywhere on the face. I missed it when I was exploring the testers but I intend to look out for it when I next visit the counter!
