Iris’s reminder about the Marc by Marc Jacobs mook for Autumn / Winter 2009 prompted me to look for it at Kinokuniya yesterday. Fortunately, I was able to snag one – the second last piece on the shelf. :)
I have been looking for a casual black tote and am pleased that I was able to lay my hands on the useful and relatively cheap one that comes with the mook.
Made of soft textured canvas, the simple tote emblazoned with white-outlined apples and a sprinkle of red hearts looks like an eco-bag. Its S$27.50 price tag* is a reasonable one: it is well-constructed with an inner pocket and it is roomy (it has a rectangular base and is around the size of a LeSportsac Medium Tribeca). I could use it to store my hair kit tools as it seems to be the right size for my hair-dryer, brushes, rollers et al.
Its only flaw is that it cannot be secured – it does not come with fasteners at all. I suppose Velcro would cheapen the designer appearance and a zipper would be too costly for a gwp.
As silly as it sounds, this bag even smells expensive. A Marc Jacobs accessory usually goes for much more, so I would consider this a score! ;) Here’s hoping that the material is colourfast and that the black base would not run in the rain. :)
* S$24.75, after the regular 10% Kinokuniya Privilege Card discount.
Dang 24$? I got mine for $18 @ Sanseido Bookstore. Hahah But I love this bag. Thanks for the info tho, I was looking for some info on it! :)
Hi Kei,
Yes, around 24 Singapore dollars, plus I get a 10% discount with the Kinokuniya card. Was yours in USD? If so, it’s about the same price. ;)
Enjoy your bag; I love how roomy it is!
Which part of kino are we able to find the mooks? I tried looking at the mags section but didn’t see any there. :(
Hi Kim,
They’re on a display quite near the beauty mags (beside or behind, depending on the direction at which you’re looking).
