Review | Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio in GR305 Jungle

A while back, Shiseido Singapore gave me this palette to review. Part of the multi-hued, rainbow-splashed Shiseido Autumn 2010 collection, Jungle (S$51) contains three different shades of green.

Comprising a foresty golden-olive, a vibrant grass green and an aqua green, this palette can easily create a variety of green eye looks. For reference, Shiseido describes this trio as ‘deep glossy green, bright leaf green and pale silver green’.

As its name suggests, these shades are reminiscent of the foliage in a tropical rainforest. Click on the image above to learn more about the inspiration behind this beautiful palette created by Dick Page.

On their own or in unison, these colours are easy to wear. I wondered about pairing the warm olive with the other two – clearly cooler – colours but somehow they blend effortlessly together, so smooth is their texture. I also love the soft shimmer that is dispersed throughout these pleasing hues, adding a subtle glimmer to the eye. They aren’t crazily pigmented but they do build up and show up well over a good eyeshadow base.

Here is a simple EOTD that I did with this palette. See how vibrant they can be, over my bases?

And here I am with the shadows still on, 10 hours later. Although they’d faded slightly, the colours had settled into a beautiful seamless blend. ♥

You look really fresh and lively in greens! I have a weakness for greens and this seems to really suit Asian skin. What foundation are you using? your skin looks fantastic :)

      Hi Jan,

Thank you. :) I’ve loved greens for years! This is a good green palette to have, mainly because it has different tones of the same hue. They can be paired with so many different colours, for different looks.

As for my foundation, I believe I’d used Skin79 VIP Gold in this particular FOTD. I *think* I also had on a dusting of the powder from the DHC anti-acne range, to test its staying power.

One of the greens look like the green in Tropicalia. I use it over a black base last week & the green pops so much, total LOVE! For the longest time I did not know how to wear such a cool green like how you wear them & always so gorgeously!!!

      Hi Farah,

The two greens look similar but the one in Tropicalia is brighter. Greens over blacks are awesome – that’s a great way to wear them, especially flashing greens. Would love to see a pic of your eye! ;)

You could also try greens over a blue-green pencil like Topshop Petrol kohl.

I like the Olive green shade in the palette – and the 3 together looks great. I notice you use the I Nuovi base a lot – I’m tempted to try too! No creasing right?

    Hi there,
Can you help me with this long time problem? I discover that whenever i apply mascara, after few hours there will be a ‘black ring’ on my lower eye. It is actual fine black powder and i suspect its from my mascara. But i change a few brands and the same thing happen. What should i do?

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Ace,

Have you tried a mascara base (Shiseido makes one) or Majolica Majorca mascaras? The latter is very good in the stay-put department. I also like Heroine Make and Fasio mascaras for their budgeproof feature.

Yay! Finally green is getting its place in the limelight!

OK I would show you a pic of my eye if I can find a pic. Maybe I did take one. I wear a black base over everything, today over the purple blus in MAC Togetherness e/s trio. Love how it transforms. Oh yes Wanted to check Topshop esp since I think I shld hv a bday voucher to redeem? Shall go see soon.

      Hey Farah,

I look forward to seeing it! :) Which black base do you use? Topshop has good makeup at low prices. Do look out for their pencils, polishes and cream blushes. :)

I love this green palette a lot. Just did some EOTDs with it too. I did mine without using any base, and they turned nice but quite sheer.

May I know which green(s) did you use for the EOTD? It looked lovely. And also may I know which eye base did you use?

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Vonvon,

I used all three greens. :) I believe my bases were I Nuovi Eye Base all over and a green pencil on the lid – I can’t remember which but it could’ve been MAC Minted Kohl, MAC Undercurrent Pearlglide or Topshop Petrol Kohl.

  • chocfull says:

Yes wil definitely check them out, hopefully this wkend. I use Kate eyeshadow stick. :)

  • Vonvon says:

Thank you for the reply, Makeupmag. I used MAC Undercurrent to line my eyes when I used Jungle. Perhaps, next time, I would use Undercurrent as a base. ;)
