I was at Sephora Ion with Kas today, when we spotted Black Flame 05, a beautiful pewter shadow from the Sephora Colorful Mono Eyeshadow collection. Made in France, these shadow singles (S$19 at Sephora Singapore/€10,90 in Europe/US$12 in North America) come in varying textures. Black Flame is from the metallic (métallisé) range.
Black Flame is described as a ‘near black shimmer’ but it really is a complex pewter shade with multi-coloured micro-shimmer (enlarge the photo above and you’ll see what I mean). It swatches beautifully – it is buttery-smooth in texture and reminds me of the MAC Veluxe Pearl formula. It also has excellent colour pay-off, so intense are its pigments. I like the elegant Sephora flame on the shadow’s surface too.
The two swatches above demonstrate the multi-dimensional nature of this shadow: The one on the left is darker and more monochromatic in appearance than the one on the right, which shows its glistening shimmer (the photos were taken in different lighting). I can’t wait to use this eyeshadow; this would make a very pretty smokey eye! ♥
