A Small Addiction by Ayako Haul – Eye Shadow in Crow and Dolly Bird Compact

When my beauty pal Iris was in Japan a while back, she kindly helped me purchase some lovelies from Addiction.

The creative mind behind Addiction is makeup artist Ayako, formerly the International Makeup Director of NARS. Unsurprisingly, the sleek nature of the Addiction packaging is reminiscent of NARS’s…minus the deteriorative rubber!

Here is Eye Shadow in Crow (¥2940), a blackened-grey infused with green and multi-coloured shimmer – a complex sooty shade perfect for a unique smokey eye.

Here is the Dolly Bird Compact (¥8400), the brand’s ’60s-inspired offering for Holiday 2010. This limited edition makeup palette has an interesting holographic exterior that winks – tilt it one way and you’ll see Twiggy-esque eyes looking at you…

Tilt it another way and one eye closes, showing the defining crease line that exemplifies the eye makeup of that time! LOVE the duo presentation and the makeup technique revelation.

The palette comprises three matte eyeshadow shades and a shimmery one, as well as a trio of blushes. All complementary and very beautiful, this palette is worth its price, despite its somewhat petite size.

Here’s a close-up of the compact. Iris has a clear description of this palette on her website.

She was able to score a stylish Addiction gwp for me too – a bangle designed by Jessica Kagan Cushman, inscribed with the words ‘Addicted to Addiction’. Do read Iris’s blog entry on Addiction to find out more about the brand! :)
