Thanks to its reflective metallic sparkles which reminded me of various cream shadows (Kate Gel Eye Shadows, the shimmery Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadows and MAC Metal-X cream shadows), I was unsure initially if Holika Holika Make A Wish Eyes Metal in GR406 was a cream or powder eyeshadow.
A swatch and an application eventually proved it to be the latter. While it is smooth, it doesn’t have the inherent glide or tackiness of a cream. Its texture doesn’t even fall into that ambiguous realm between a cream and a powder – it is most assuredly a powder shadow, despite its appearance which seems to hint otherwise! ;)
I ramble on about this because I was hoping for a multi-dimensional quality that some shimmery cream shadows are wont to have. It doesn’t have that feature but it certainly is a very pretty shimmery silver eyeshadow spiked with subtle green and pewter tones. It also has an intense texture that is at once metallic – as its name indicates – and sparkly. I haven’t used it wet but I’d imagine it’d be striking.
I like that it pairs particularly well with my stash of greys, pewters and blacks, its lovely gleam lifting adding a complementary contrast to those shades; if that makes sense. At only S$12.50, it is definitely worth a go, if you’re partial to such hues and love pigmented pressed shadows. Do be warned that it can be a touch difficult to open, thanks to the petite size of the compact.
That’s your kind of color. Beautiful. Happy birthday!
Thank you, Marcia!
And you’re so right about it being my kind of colour. :)
Its GORGEOUS and I can totally see you wearing it! At $12.50, its a real steal! I’d love to see a wider range of shades in this formula though
Hey Kas,
Try it – I think you might like it! I agree; they should expand the range.
