Shu Uemura Color Atelier: One Palette, Infinite Looks

Smaller, more compact and part of a stylish modular system, the newly-revamped shadow and blush ranges from Shu Uemura afford increased portability and more mix-&-match possibilities. Developed by Japanese architect Kumiko Inui, this sustainable palette system requires no glue, no magnets and no tape – only a genius lock-on fastening method based on precise sliding and slotting.

The customisable nature of these pans not only allows individualistic play with the Shu Uemura universe of colours and textures, it is also markedly more environmentally-friendly than the regular clear case compacts.

The makeup math:

4 of the new shadow refills + 1 quad palette = 6.8 g, while 4 of the old clear case compacts = 70 g.

4 monos + 1 quad palette = S$22 x 5 = S$110, while 4 of the older singles = S$36 x 4 = S$144.

To mark the Singapore launch of Color Atelier, City Allure, a special quad for Singapore women, was created by local makeup maestro, Clarence Lee.

Comprising Pressed Eye Shadows in ME Light Pink 126, ME Medium Brown 856, M Light Beige 813 and ME Black 996, the neutral colours in this palette allow Asian women to easily create classic, wearable eye looks.

In addition to this Singapore palette, the brand has also created 4 key looks/combinations which you can recreate in a palette or change up, if you so wish.

I like the blue-themed London Flair quad the most!

Do note that while the original quad contains ME Medium Blue 686 (a deep navy), the blue featured in the palette above is IR Medium Blue 675, a reflective ocean blue reminiscent of MAC Freshwater. As beautiful as ME 686 is, I prefer the sheen and finish of IR 675. :)

According to Shu Uemura Singapore, the product formulas have been tweaked a little but for the most part, the current range of colours has been retained, only with changes to their numbering codes.

The shade codes remain the same: G for Glitter, IR for Iridescent, M for Matte, ME for Metallic, P for Pearl. New colours have also been added to the kaleidoscopic smorgasbord.

For a start, Shu Uemura Color Atelier will comprise 45 Pressed Eye Shadows and 28 Glow-Ons. 20 more eyeshadows will join the makeup repertoire later in the year.

Each eyeshadow pan costs S$22, while each Glow-On blush pan costs S$33. The custom cases in black (regular) and white (limited edition) come in mono (S$12), duo (S$14) and quad (S$22) forms. A duo compact fits one Glow-On pan or two eyeshadow pans.

Shu Uemura Color Atelier will launch today (Friday, 24 June 2011) at Shu Uemura Takashimaya and will be available at all other Shu Uemura counters island-wide from 28 June.
