The busy bees at The Body Shop have developed a sweet offering for beauty lovers – a nectarous delight, the Honey Bronze collection comprises a scented body oil, shimmering body powders, shiny lipglosses and wearable bronzers.
The ‘honey jar’ press kit made me smile, thanks to the cute little bumblebee chocolates placed among the products. Made in Germany, these smiley bee choccies were delicious!
The Honey Bronze Shimmering Dry Oil (S$36.90/100 ml) imparts a healthy glow to the skin, so finely-milled is its gold shimmer.
Readily absorbed by the skin, it has a non-greasy finish and doesn’t streak. Containing Community Fair Trade honey from Ethiopia and beeswax from Cameroon, the oil promises to moisturise the skin even as it gives it a natural-looking glow. It has a floral fragrance (jasmine, I believe); not honey but a reminder of where the bees feast! ;)
The Honey Bronze Brilliance Powders in 01 Bronze Shimmer and 02 Copper Shimmer (S$32.90/5 g) are illuminating bronzing powders for the face and body. Encased in a handy tube with an integrated brush for easy application, they are great for highlighting the décolletage and adding radiance to the limbs.
Bronze Shimmer has multi-coloured sparkles interspersed with the dominant gold ones, while Copper Shimmer has reflective copper sparkles that would look great on tanned skin. I’d refrain from using these highlighters on the face, though (or use them with restraint, at least), as they are very shimmery.
The Honey Bronze Lip Nectars in 01 Honey Bunch and 02 Honey Beige (S$16.90/14 ml) are sheer, shiny lipglosses. Containing Community Fair Trade honey, beeswax and marula oil, they moisturise the lips while imparting a pretty glossy tint.
Honey Bunch is a sweet Mandarin orange with gold and other warm-toned shimmer, while Honey Beige is a sparkly sheer honey with multi-coloured shimmer. As you can tell from the swatches, the former is more pigmented than the latter.
The Honey Bronze Bronzing Powders in 01 Light Matte, 03 Medium Matte and 04 Deep Matte (S$32.90/11g) are compact bronzers created to give skin a natural-looking glow.
The honey comb print on the pans is very pretty to look at and though it’d be more eye-catching if it were shimmery, I like that these compacts are matte, given the plethora of bronzing shimmers in the market; this texture enhances the natural-appearance factor.
They aren’t dully matte, thankfully and seem to have a satiny feel, plus the varying shades are perfect for contouring work too! For a natural glow, dust the brighter shade for your skin tone over the areas where the sun naturally touches the face – the forehead, cheeks, nose bridge and chin. To contour, apply the darker shade at the temples, cheek hollows and jawline.
Also included in the press kit was the new Big & Curvy Waterproof Mascara (S$24.90/10 ml) which promises to give lashes a full-bodied curl.
I haven’t tried it yet but according to the brand:
This volumising mascara is waterproof, tearproof and smudgeproof. The advanced brush loads and sculpts lashes, coating them from root to tip, for full-bodied volumising curves that last. Lashes look thicker and more curved.
All in all, this was a lovely press kit to receive. I’m not a regular bronzer user but the Honey Bronze collection is fairly wearable – even the fair crowd can pull off some of the items here. :)

Hi
Wondering if you’d like to sell ‘Honey Bronze Bronzing Powders in 01 Light Matte’? :) Also, if I’m a MAC NC20, do you think this shade is suitable for me?
Thanks!
Hi Becky,
I’m fairly certain the powders are still available at the stores. I think it will suit NC20 skin.
