Makeup Stash! Christmas 2011 Giveaways

December 13, 2011
By

This has been a good year for me – not only have I been blessed with a beautiful baby, I’ve also had the opportunity to review a slew of lovely beauty products and work with stellar brands that respect and value my writing.

To celebrate this great year and as thanks for your support (especially in the form of the kind words you’ve said to me on my blog or privately), I’d like to share these products with you. And honestly, I don’t believe in sitting in my review tower enjoying these beauty goodies; I want you to try them too!

I’ve reviewed almost all of the products in this giveaway and hope you like them as much as I do. Special thanks to the brands that have made this possible with their generous contributions!

From Anna Sui Singapore:

Anna Sui Beauty Mirror

(1 piece worth S$42)

A foldable mirror with a stained glass design. The rainbow hues are so pretty.

Anna Sui Bath Set

(1 set worth S$62)

A whimsical beauty ornament with scented bath beads. A slipper for a subversive Cinderella?

Anna Sui Queen of the Night Eye Colour Palette & Lip Gloss Set

(1 set worth S$90)

A kit with eye and lip essentials. I like the harlequin print of the pouch!

From Clarins Singapore:

Clarins Christmas Must-Haves:

Eye Quartet Mineral Palette + Blush Prodige + Rouge Prodige (5 sets worth S$159 each)

I’m so glad I discovered Clarins makeup – not only do the products apply beautifully, they also smell wonderful. Your visage will love these three items! I highly recommend the pampering Clarins Skin Time too.

From Estée Lauder Singapore:

Estée Lauder Pure Color Sensuous Rouge Lip Colors

(3 lipsticks, each worth S$42)

Their smooth and velvety texture makes these lipsticks easy to wear. The classy packaging is a draw too.

Estée Lauder Pure Color Five Color EyeShadow Palette

(2 palettes, each worth S$80)

Five colours in varying finishes to mix, match and play with. I like how they blend nicely into one another.

From Lancôme Singapore:

Lancôme Ombre Absolue Impact 3D Eyeshadow Palette in G10 Étoile du Soir

(2 palettes, each worth S$90)

I love this palette for its smokey tones and varying shimmer levels. A must-have for smokey-eye lovers!

From Maquillage Singapore:

Maquillage Essence Glamorous Rouge

(2 tubes, each worth S$43)

The top-selling lip product in the Maquillage range, these glossy lip lovelies keep the lips soft, plump and lush. I like their shine and ‘bouncy’ feel!

From RMK Singapore:

RMK Nail Color EX

(5 bottles, each worth S$25)

The shades of these polishes are not only apt for Christmas, they last well and will see you through this holiday season.

From Shiseido Singapore:

Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Colors

(3 pots, each worth S$32)

Smooth cream shadows that can be layered without caking? That’s what these are!

From Shu Uemura Singapore:

Shu Uemura Glittery Mascara in Glorious Masquerade

(5 tubes, each worth S$45)

A glittery lash veil for the festive season. Use it on its own or layer over mascara for twinkly eyes.

The most memorable gift was a Remote Control Operated Reclining Massage Chair about 2 years ago which I eventually gave to my mum. For a long time she continued suffering due pain in the lower back region and early arthritis set in. All this caused uncomfortable erratic sleep, affected by ability to concentrate and prevented her from indulging in a lot of physical activities that she used to love. She was able to sleep better after using this massage chair for a few months.

    Hi there,
I have followed and shared Makeup Stash! on Twitter, name coraline_white

My most memorable gift this year was from my ex-neighbor. We use to live in the same apartment but now she moved with her husband to Hong Kong. She got my a set of Freeplus. It’s a skincare from Kanebo especially formulated for sensitive skin. I was so excited because I’m afraid of skincare that contains alcohol, fragrance and parabens. I wish it would be available in locally in Singapore soon

The most memorable gifts I received are trip overseas (Europe, Taiwan, Japan) with my family, because the experiences are priceless. Also 2 years ago, my close friend went all out to hunt down Dior limited edition Cristal Boreal Gloss Pendant which I so adore. He went to a couple for stores in SG, but it was sold out. He went across the border to our friendly neighbour & managed to grab the last one in a mall. :)

I received a Miumiu sweater from my aunt few years back. I have never worn it before but hopefully someday I can actually sit on a plane and go somewhere cold.

    - The most memorable gift I ever received was a dress when I was 7. We were tight on money and I wanted a ‘princess’ dress for my birthday, but we couldn’t afford it. I remember whining about it (I feel really bad now), but my grandma worked late into the night and sewed me one as a b’day present. I loved it to death and felt really special that day. I still keep the dress eventhough I can’t fit in it. It remains a lovely memory of my grandma. =)

My most memorable gift was from my hubbie, then my boyfriend. We were still studying in university and he was working during the holiday break. He bought me an expensive Gucci watch for Christmas, which later I found out he had spent his entire salary on.

My most memorable beauty gift is from my girlfriend who given me Kiehl’s ultra light daily uv defense spf 50 PA ++ sunscreen.I used to think its a chore and a “girlish” thing to apply and pile things on my face and i sweat quite alot too and i was afraid it would clog up my pores. At first i tested a small amount on the back of my palm , and found it being absorbed very quickly and there was no whitish ghostly tint that i disliked, and of course no nose-stinging aritificial fragrance. The next day, i mustered up the courage to apply directly on my face in the morning after washing my face.Surprisingly it feels very lightweight on my face, and even though i applied it, i felt as though my face was bare without any application of it,whole day down the road, my face still feels well protected with an invisible sheen. This is a good start for me , for someone who used to dislike applying anything on my face besides facial washes.
After 2 months into the product, my friends has commented that my complexion looks better with less fine lines and more even-toned.
Its never too late to start my beauty regime now which i faithfully followed, and i started bugging my gf to share more of her beauty products with me, and of course also get useful tips and knowledge from Makeupstash.com :) Thanks for all the wonderful articles and giveaways.

My most memorable gift is . . . I’ll say my Nintendo DS Lite. I got it recently, since a couple of years ago my first Nintendo DS got spoilt and I couldn’t use it anymore, which made me really sad. My father got me a new one a few days ago, and I was unbelievably over the moon. Right now, my entire family, excluding my mother, is enjoying the games on it. To be honest, I feel that the money spent was worth it, considering that there are four people using and loving it.

I both followed and liked you on Twitter and Facebook respectively, and my nicks are (respectively, once again): tokiedoki and Dorine Toh. I’ve, also, posted a link to the RMK Dusty Bright Colors Collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 on Facebook, and for confirmation the permalink is https://www.facebook.com/priderine/posts/161262847306593.

On a completely unrelated note, I’d like to sing your praises for your amazing English. Many blogs I see by Singaporeans have rather . . . corrupted, if I may say, English. I don’t really mind, but sometimes it just annoys me.

Lastly, thank you for this amazing giveaway, and may I recommend Rafflecopter (rafflecopter.com) the next time you want to host a giveaway? :)

    2. Done! (on my FB wall)

    3. The most memorable gift (beauty-related or otherwise) you’ve ever received or given:

The most memorable gift I’ve ever received was this huge Forever Friends bear that my mum got me after I finished my last PSLE exam. I had hankered after it for ages after seeing it in one of those Precious Thoughts stores, and my mum promised that I could get it if I studied real hard for my exams and got straight ‘A’s. Inspired by the thought of cuddling this awesome teddy bear in my arms, I mugged my hardest for the duration of the exams, and after the final paper, my mum surprised me by bringing me to the store to pick out my bear. Even though I hadn’t even gotten my results yet (those turned out ok, too), my mum recognised the effort I had put in to studying for the exams, and she felt that I had earned myself the teddy bear as a reward.

15 years on, the Forever Friends bear is still with me, cuddly as ever. He reminds me that anything is possible, with a bit of determination and perseverance.

My most memorable gift was from a bottle of handmade stars from a crush during school days. It was surprise when he gave me a bottle of stars for my birthday rather than the usual off the shelves kind of presents. Well, the irony , we never got together but I am happily married to my best friend, the best gift God has given me. The bottle of stars remains as a memory etched deep down in my heart.

    3. I gave my BFF aka twin (cos people used to say we look alike in JC and we always hung out together since JC times till today) a makeover session! She doesn’t put on makeup often and is not adventurous to try out with eyeshadows and colours. The only makeup she puts on is concealer, foundation and mascara, even for dressy dinner occasions. So I volunteered to do her makeup for her during one of our friend’s wedding. And I guess she liked what I did for her so much that this inspired her to buy $200 worth of makeup from Benefit a few weeks later!

I remember when I was 12 years old, me and my childhood best friend used to get intrigued by the makeup tutorials on youtube. We’d pretend we were the makeup gurus with our paint brushes and water color palletes. We graduated from primary school, and she had to migrate to australia so as a parting Christmas gift, she bought me a simple Maybelline eyeshadow pallete to remind me of the fun we had together. It was simple and may seem kind of cheap, but at that time, when we only received $1/day for pocket money, it seemed really expensive to us then. It was my prized possesion and i used to carry it every where i go. That eyeshadow pallete was my first makeup product and it got me started on putting on makeup

My most memorable gifts when the whole family (husband & daughter) went for Holiday to HK. All expenses paid by my husband & i went overboard with the makeup shopping since it was paid by him.

I shared the link on my twitter @elvinaleong for the giveaway as well as your review for the Clarins Ombre Minérale 4 Couleurs in 06 Graphites, the palette is so pretty! (I’ve been eyeing the nudes one hehe)

My most memorable gift was actually my birthday this year, my boyfriend planned the whole day for me and I had the best birthday ever. He knows that I’ve been having a series of bad birthdays and wanted to make this year’s most memorable for me, and he did. I feel so grateful (:

Best gift I ever received was a huge polar bear soft toy three years ago. Since then it has been unstitched and restuffed by me and is my must-have to sleep with! :D

Most Memorable Gift: It has to be the North Face jacket my boyfriend got for me last Christmas. At that time I was suffering from hypothyroidism and there were days when I could not function because I was too cold. Other than taking care of my needs, my boyfriend decide to get me this jacket, which has anti-wind coating on it. Immediately I felt the difference wearing it and I love how considerate he was. Till this day I am still wearing this jacket daily and it is indispensable in my life.

Thank you for having this giveaway. Wishing u and your family peace and love this festive season!

My most memorable gift is Stila Collectible red carpet palette no 3. It was given to me on my birthday this year by my cousin. It contains 6 ultra-wearable eye shadow shades, a dual lip and cheek cream, an all-over shimmer and a dramatic mascara. Although I dont wear much makeup, its still a great collectible.

    Most memorable gift:
A box of Japanese food from Japan. I did a short homestay in Japan with a Japanese young couple. It was only less than 3 days . After returning to Singapore, I sent them a box of Ah Kun kaya and some mixes for local food to thank them for being such friendly and hospitable people. (I brought a box of Merlion chocs over but I didn’t know they taste so horrible until we opened the box and ate the chocs together. ><)

What I didn’t expect was a box from Japan a week later after I sent out mine! Inside were Japanese foods and tibits that I really really love. I’m very sure that I didn’t mention anything to them, except for one. (I love Japanese instant udon.) They must have noticed I took longer looks at some of the items when we went to the supermarkets to shop for meals. This is going to sound so cliche but I did tear a little because I was so touched. :’)

Extra chance: I’ve also posted a link of one of your reviews on my Facebook. :)

The most memorable gift I’ve received is my very first set of skincare from my mum. She gave it to me when I was 15. I remember it was a full set of skincare range, cleanser, toner and moisturiser. It’s just a basic brand but I’m grateful ‘cos she told me to take care of my skin ever since I’m young and I’ve been doing it till now which I think will definitely benefit me when I’m much older. Thanks Mummy!
