Origins Earth Month 2012

To celebrate Earth Month this year, Origins has embarked on a series of activities.

Among these is giving customers an Origins Earth Day Bracelet with any skincare purchase. Oddly, the bracelet promises to make your wish come true only if it drops off your wrist. I’m baffled by this – does this mean the brand does not want us to keep the trinket? And wouldn’t the loss of the accessory contribute to environmental waste, no matter how tiny it is? Make of it what you will…

The brand has also set up a special wish tree at their Robinsons Raffles City counter for customers to express their wishes for the planet.

10 lucky customers will each receive an Origins hamper worth S$80, should their wish card be picked.

In addition, the brand is collaborating with All Things Green and Beautiful (ATGAB), an eco-company which encourages the upcycling of bags, cleverly turning these items into fun accessories like headbands, hair clips and brooches. They will be collecting old/unused PVC or leather bags at the Origins counter (also at Raffles City) and donors will be rewarded with a 10% shopping discount. The brooch/hairpin above is created with Origins packaging.

In a nice touch, Origins Singapore will plant a tree in your honour, via the American Forests’ Global ReLeaf Program, with any purchase of Plantscription Anti-aging Serum.

Lastly, beauty empties are welcome at the Origins counters all year round. Since April 2010, Origins Singapore has been collecting these – regardless of brand – and forwarding them to a central location where they will receive a new lease of life as other useful items or are used for energy recovery. It’s good to see more companies with an empties recycling program, besides MAC and The Body Shop. :)

The concept of the bracelet reminds me of the friendship bracelets I used to have! They will eventually fall off once you shower with it etc. Just wondering if the Origins counter at Changi airport participates in these promos?

      Hello Celina!

The delicate string does look like embroidery thread for friendship bands. :) I’m not sure re: your query. I’ll ask the brand and will get back to you as soon as I can! :)

Ah I like the idea of dumping old bags on them. Haha…and yes, the bracelet thingy is baffling.
