Review | Estée Lauder Pure Color Blush in Naughty and Pink Ingenue

Here are two pretty blushes from the reformulated Estée Lauder Pure Color Blush range.

Naughty  (a coral orange) is part of the limited edition Pure Color Blush Custom Collection created by Estée Lauder Creative Makeup Director Tom Pecheux for Summer 2012.

Fearless (a hot pink) and The Siren (a soft red) complete this collection. Inspired by his work at fashion shows, these three shades promise to ‘deliver a range of backstage contoured cheek looks from avant-garde glamour to natural femininity’ and are described as having ‘a satin finish with ultra absolute, buildable color’.

The trio is limited edition but Pink Ingenue (a slightly shimmery, slightly dusty mauve pink) is part of the permanent range.

Bring your cheeks into full bloom. Fresh, radiant color lasts all day and won’t streak or fade. Includes exclusive True Vision technology. The ultra-silky powder sweeps on sheer for a natural glow. Builds for contoured and sculpted definition with luminous optic technology. In two finishes, Satin and Shimmer.

According to the brand, the range is formulated with an antioxidant complex that contains cranberry and goji berry. I’m sceptical of the actual skincare effect but it’s nice to know it’s there. ;)

Both blushes have a lovely silky texture and layer well, so no worries about starting with a light hand.

In fact, I’d recommend it as they’re very pigmented. They are fairly lightweight, despite their intensity.

When I opened my preview palettes, I was quite surprised by the amount of product inside. I love the wide pan, though! Measuring a spacious 5.2 cm x 5.2 cm (about 2″ x 2″), it gives me room for brush grazing. A great brush to use with them is the MAC 150 Large Powder Brush which is perfect for an in-from-the-cold, healthy flush of colour.

As I was telling Iris, they’re ordinary because the colour variations available are pretty safe, yet they’re special in that they’re smooth and pigmented, plus they come in a generous pan. They’re also very long-lasting.

Expected to arrive at the end of May 2012, the Pure Color Blush Custom Collection by Tom Pecheux will be exclusively available at Isetan Scotts, Takashimaya and Tangs Orchard, while the permanent range will be sold at EL counters across the island. At S$54, they’re somewhat pricey but the pan is huge and well worth the investment, especially if you’re a one-blush devotee! ;)

    Hi Mag,
I like this review. In fact I was going to get em soon and I think I am now sure that Estee has good blushes :)

      Hello Meryl,

Thank you. :) I went to the counter to look for other shades today but they told me the range will only come in at the end of the month.

I like the wide pan very much! I seriously can’t stand teeny weeny blushes where I can’t dip my nice fluffy brush into for a quick swipe.

      Hi Espenine,

I love it! It makes picking up blush such a joy. And I totally get you re: narrow blush spaces that can’t accommodate fluffier brushes – they are limiting, with the blush powder too concentrated on one area of the brush. Ugh!

Hi there, love these blushes – did you deliberately not choose Fearless or The Siren for any particular reason? I’m trying to decide what to go with!

      Hi there wtmontana,

They haven’t arrived at our counters yet! These are preview samples. I am going to check out Fearless when they are launched, though – I saw photos of it online and think I might like it. :)
