If you own an Android phone, more notably the popular Samsung Galaxy S3, you’re in for a treat: DBS one.tap now allows you to pay for purchases and services using your mobile.
The first bank in Singapore to introduce Internet banking here, DBS is also a pioneer in introducing contact-less payments using mobile phones.
Simply put, DBS one.tap is a virtual credit card:
Utilising a short-range wireless communication method better known as Near Field Communication (NFC) technology, information is transmitted between a mobile device and a reader. With just one tap of your NFC-enabled smartphone, you can swiftly – and securely – pay for your purchases at eligible merchant acceptance points.
Popular retailers that already accept this payment method include Watsons, PastaMania, Shaw Theatres, G2000, Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen, as well as Comfort & CityCab.
I struggle with my credit card storage, so this is mighty welcome. Currently eligible for use at 30,000 locations (and counting), this is a marked convenience for me. Moreover, it allows me to redeem mobile coupons on-the-go by simply pulling up the mobile coupon on my phone before paying, to instantly redeem the offers. :)
