When I first learnt about the new Shiseido Shimmering Cream Eye Colors, I was thrilled to welcome them – these buttery-smooth and lasting shadow crèmes are a staple in my makeup arsenal.
Lustrous and lightweight, the range as a whole isn’t super intense, unlike the Make Up For Ever Aqua Creams and Nars Eye Paints. However, this also means they’re office-friendly and perfect for those who love to work with cream formulas but are leery of strong colour payoff. Like their predecessors, the Shiseido Hydro-Powder Eye Shadows (sometimes erroneously referred to as Hydro-Power), they have a silky glide and discernible shimmer (some sparklier than others).
I’d say the formula has improved in that the new crèmes do not fold up on the surface as easily when picked up and they spread more evenly than the HPs. In addition, their finer texture means they blend and layer better. One of the attributes of the SCECs is their ability to go over powder shadows without caking. This allows buildable intensity and gives an eye look a 3-dimensional appearance.

I’ve been playing with Nightfall and Shoyu, both lovely as smokey-eye options and as liners. I ♥ their plushness and depth of tone!
