Review | Foreo Luna + Giveaway

Foreo Luna Open

I’ve been trying the baby pink Foreo Luna for normal/sensitive skin over the past two weeks and have grown to enjoy the cleansing experience it offers.

Foreo Luna

A sonic cleansing device harnessing T-Sonic™ Technology, it promises to unclog pores, eliminate impurities and even remove makeup residue with its transdermal sonic pulsations (up to 8000/minute) channelled through silicone touch-points.

Foreo Luna Back and Front

One side of the hand-held machine has silicone bristles in gradated sizes to dislodge dirt and eliminate impurities, while the other ridged side has concentric silicone waves to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles using the anti-ageing mode with lower-frequency pulsations.

It has varying levels of sonic vibration controlled by the 3-button interface, so you can adjust the buzzing to your comfort level. The vibrating sensation feels like a gentle skin massage and seems to provide circulatory stimulation. I like using the highest setting when my skin feels grimy. Save for my nose area, this setting makes my skin feel clean but not stripped of moisture.

The nose area still has remaining sebum, though – if you’re hoping to get rid of whiteheads/blackheads with this particular device, you might not succeed; it is after all for sensitive skin and gentler in action. (I do wonder if the baby blue Luna for combination skin might be more effective in this aspect.)

I have read reviews where subsequent uses have led to a decrease in these facial banes, so I might see this in time to come. I do manual extraction to rid my nose of whiteheads and excess sebum and have found that the Foreo completes this specific cleansing process for me, rather than tackle the problem on its own.

Putting my cleanser on the bristles seems to foam it up better than having it on my face and applying the tool to it. Do note that the brand recommends four areas for cleansing, with each zone taking up 15 seconds. An interval comes after a minute of use and is marked by three—quick—successive pauses in the pulsation. Read all about it in the manual which has comprehensive information on how to use this device.

My skin falls under the sensitive category but I’ve not broken out from using this gadget or experienced other adverse effects so far. One negative review I read mentioned an immediate plumping effect that was the result of over-stimulation but the vibrations don’t seem quite that powerful, given their inability to vigorously deep-cleanse.

I’ve yet to try the anti-ageing mode but it’s a nifty idea, certainly. :) ETA: I’ve tried this function and rather enjoy it for my under-eye area – the gentle pulsation seems to subtly relieve that area of fluid and give a de-puffing effect. Urban (The Straits Times) mentions using it to relieve facial tension, as well as on “knotted brows and a tired neck”.

Created with hypoallergenic silicone that is non-porous and thus less susceptible to bacteria build-up, it can be washed easily and eliminates the need to replace brush heads like other mechanical exfoliators like the Clarisonic. Soft and non-abrasive, this material makes it suitable for daily use.

Foreo Luna Charger, Plug and Pouch

Fully waterproof, including its charging port, it promises up to 450 uses per full charge (which takes under an hour). With a long working span and no fiddly bits, this palm-sized skincare tool is perfect for travel too.

Foreo Luna Box

In Singapore, the Foreo Luna retails at S$299 and is available at Sephora stores island-wide.

    Hi Candice,

Many thanks for offering this opportunity to win a Foreo Luna! I’ve had a Clarisonic Mia 2 which I’ve used every night religiously over the past 2 years. Unfortunately, it’s battery life is getting shorter by the day and it finally passed away last week. As such, I would really love to own a Foreo Luna!

But I digress.. For my skincare tip, I love to use a charcoal mask whenever my skin feels grimy or clogged. My favorite mask now is the Origins Active Charcoal Mask! I use it every week and love how it feels! The charcoal mask feels warm during application and slowly dries up while working its magic by drawing out pore-cloggers. My skin feels cleaner and fresher after use! Love!

    Hi Mag,

I apply aloe Vera gel over my serums to “seal” the good stuff in at night! I think the aloe Vera gel adds extra hydration while serving as a physical barrier to bacteria in the environment / bedsheets. Affordable and gentle for everyday use!

My birthday is on the 19th March and this would be an awesome birthday surprise!

    Cheers,
    Karen

  • Anne says:

    Dear mag,

Prior to using any sheet mask, I will alway apply a thin layer of serum (whitening, pore minimizing or hydrating ) first, then wait for 1-2 mins before putting on the sheet mask! It’s a double “vitamins” for the skin this way!

    Cheers

My favourite skincare “tip” is to put SK-II Facial Treatment Essence into a spray bottle and use it as a facial mist! I learnt this from actress Rebecca Lim; I’m a big fan of the FTE and facial mists in general so I think this is a perfect idea! :)

  • Florence Wong says:

Once a qtr, I will do full face threading on a Fri And do intensive skin pampering for the next week. No facial hair to block all the good stuff. Ha ha.

  • Kaori says:

I use witch hazel facial toner whenever I have breakouts as it effectively calms my irritated skin :)

  • Vallerie Lim says:

Always wanted to try a cleansing device and find out first hand what the hype is about. My skincare tip is hydrate and sleep early :)

  • Sharlynn Ng says:

Thank you so much for the giveaway! I totally would LOVE to win and get to try this out!

  • Syafina Salim says:

To get the best benefits from moisturizer, i would always do gentle messages in circular motions to generate better circulation around my face. Don’t forget your neck! Messaging your neck with moisturizer in upwards motion would prevent saggy necks due to ageing.

  • Lai Ying Ying says:

A skin care tip that I use is to gently pat facial essence or moisturizer into the skin with a light dabbing motion instead of rubbing it in with force! This helps to prevent wrinkles from developing in the long run due to the pull-and-tug motion of rubbing the skin! :D

  • joanne lee says:

One of my beauty skincare tip is to do DIY home made exfoliator using natural oats and lemon. Brightening skin! Hope to win this giveaway as I have never own any face cleaning device and hope to see the results of using it myself than seeing or reading reviews only.

  • janice says:

Brown sugar with honey for homemake face scrub.
I hope to Win the foreo Luna n see what it can do to my face.

  • Alexial says:

Stay hydrated throughout the day! I always make sure I drink enough water but writing 1 – 6 at least on a notebook and tick it throughout the day!

  • Mary Angelica Dupa says:

Always wash your face before sleeping at night. (Organic cleanser are really good) and dont forget to put moisturizer. Use facial scrub twice a week to remove those clogged deeply in your pores.

  • Jenine Soh says:

Exfoliate everyday. It doesn’t have to be full on scrubbing, a gentle rub with a face cloth will do as well. I use exfoliating toners so it gets two things done at the same time; exfoliate and tone.

  • Winnie Tan says:

I double cleanse my face and ensure makeup remove totally!

  • lina says:

hope to see the comparison for the different cleansing tools available in the market (olay, clarison etc).

    skin care tips!
Apply sunscreen generously, and reapply every two hours especially having outdoor activity in Singapore!!Good skin care and healthy lifestyle choices can help delay the natural aging process and prevent various skin problems.

  • Jiayun says:

Use oatmeal mixed with a bit of water as a face scrub! Natural goodness and very gentle on the skin as well! :)

  • One of my skincare tip is to use a ‘serum enhancer’ such as lancome’s advanced genefique to help boost the effectiveness of all the products that I put on my skin after it.

  • Chang Cher Li says:

Sunblock is the most important part of your skincare routine. Without it, all anti aging skincare will be wasted because the sun is going to cause really bad sun damage and premature wrinkles! Also, never mix sunblock with your other skincare like how you can mix your serum with moisturizers because sunblock is something that needs to be used full dose!

  • He Liping says:

I have sensitive n blemish prone skin thus would like to have a chance to try this out. My skincare tip would be to always moisturise so as to avoid having dry Skin and having more oil production

  • Lee Si Qiao says:

Skincare tip – always always put on sun block 15mins before going out!

  • Pamela Ong says:

My skincare tip? Always make sure to apply a thin layer of sunblock on lower eyelid. Spots can form there too!

  • Pei ling says:

Hi! I really hope to win this device as I have been eyeing this for very long!

My skincare tip for you is to massage in moisturizer on your face.
Rather than just dabbing moisturizer on your face, massage it in using gentle pressure in circular motions might be better. This will improve circulation on face and help face to absorb the moisturizer better.

  • Jan S says:

thanks for the giveaway, this product looks intriguing :) my best skincare tip is to have enough sleep, a good moisturiser and sunblock.

  • Trish Ratna says:

    Here’s my entry Mag :)

I’ve never tried these devices as my pocket says no-no So hoping my luck smiles on me. Here’s my skincare tip: Ladies, never ever ever forget to use sunblock and moisturizer and start early. Don’t wait till you’re late 40’s like me to start. I know .. I’m paying for it.

  • Minnie says:

I want to win this badly! Everyone has been talking about the clarisonic (which i have one!) but there’s a new alternative for having a cleaner, fresher, and more radiant skin, so i want to try this! Plus
it doesnt require to change brush heads, so less expensive!

My all time fave skincare tip:

drinking plenty of water on a daily basis locks moisture into your skin and keeps it looking plumped up and healthy. Carry a bottle of water wherever you go so you can sip all day long

  • marilyn says:

Simple tip to remove heavy eye makeup = always use cotton buds where it allows you to swipe away your eye makeup. If you use cooton pad, you waste solution and you tend to be hard handed and drag your skin all over the place. This also works perfectly well with eye liners and mascara!

  • Limit your bathtime, and use warm rather than hot water for great skin.

  • Kelly Chang says:

Remember to remove your makeup before going to bed. I will highly recommend using cleansing oil that contains no mineral oil as your best makeup remover. :)

  • lek jie ying says:

Every morning I take a cup of warm water with a slice of lemon before I start my day. Shortly after two weeks or so, my friends started to comment How my skin is glowing despite I didn’t really get to sleep much! Been wanting to try foreo luna for a long time and please to hear about the giveaway!

  • Xiaojuan says:

Double cleanse after a long day by using ur favourite oil cleanser and couple foreo luna with a gentle cleanser to remove all traces of dirt. Top up with a sheet mask to wind down.

  • Angela Lim says:

Apply vaseline on the eyelashes before sleeping for longer lashes!

  • Amanda says:

Take half a lemon and put 3-4 drop Of honey and run the lemon on your face emphasising the troubled areas. leave the mixture on for 5-10mins and wash off with cold water for clearer and fresher skin! Pamper your wallet and paper your face:) natural at its best!

  • Amanda says:

    *pamper

  • Shi Han says:

After cleansing, use a paper facial mask, proceed with your usual skincare, and end off sealing in all the goodness of your products with a sleeping mask. Doing it this way daily requires alot of effort and time but the results are worth it, because you’ll always wake up with radiant, glowing skin!

  • Uma Shangari says:

    Hi Mag!
I make my own natural face masks using tumeric, honey and yoghurt! Tumeric powder has helped me with my acne for years now and I would recommend it to everyone!
I used to use Tumeric mixed with Rose water to form a thick paste and apply it onto my acne prone areas (cheeks especially) and prolonged use helped to clear my acne during my teenage days!

Thank you Mag & Sephora for this generous giveaway! :D

    • makeupmag says:

Congratulations, Uma! You’ve won the Foreo Luna from Sephora Singapore. Please email me with your details (name, IC number, contact number), hopefully by today, so you could collect the prize as soon as possible. You’ll need to collect the set at Sephora Ngee Ann City by 24 March. :)

My tip is that good skin care must including sun protection and gentle cleansing so that we can keep your skin healthy and glowing for years to come. I make sure to use sunblock and protect my skin from the sun. A lifetime of sun exposure can cause wrinkles, age spots and increase the risk of skin cancer. I wll make sure to do a complete and daily cleansing of my face with or without makeup. A good cleansing device such as Foreo Luna helps too by saving time and doing a proper cleansing of my face.

  • Nicol Chan says:

My skincare tip: after using a facial scrub (once a week), use a paper facial mask or gel mask for 15-20 minutes. My favourite brand of masks are from L’Herboflore.

  • Clara Au Kar Mun says:

    Hello pretty momma!

    I am in my mid-20s.

So, here’s my skin care tip. I have sensitive and oily skin problem. And, I am a University student. I always drink 2 liters of water to keep my skin and body hydrated and to make sure that I flush out my toxic. Avoid finger touching on my face. Eat more greens. Apply SPF20 when I am outside of the house. I sleep at least 8hrs per day to keep my mind and body health.

Lastly, EXERCISE to sweat it out! :)

  • Fiona says:

Hi, the skincare tip I’d like to share is pretty basic and simple but it does make quite a difference to my pores. Thought of sharing with you and the other readers here too. My friend once explained that, in the morning shower that we take, always shower/clean our faces with warm water, it helps to open up the pores and wake it up for the cleanser to be used. Rinse it off with cold water instead. Using lemon infused water to splash your face every morning and night helps in lightening blemishes too. I’ve always found natural means in skincare to be helpful and calming on the skin. Hope it helps :)

  • TCT says:

Tip: Please air dry your silicon devices and do not keep in an enclosed container. I stored a pair of washed and dried silicon nose scrub thingy (those that fit over your finger tips) in a closed container and it got mouldy! No amount of scrubbing/cleaning could get rid of the mould so please note!

  • Nicolette Wong says:

I’d love to win the Foreo! My skincare tip is to use a gentle chemical exfoliant as a toner every day – not only can you then forgo the harsher physical scrubs, but the skincare you apply after will penetrate more effectively. My favourites are the Biologique Recherche P50 and the Clarins gentle exfoliating brightening toner.

  • Esther Ng says:

HONEY is my love when it comes to skincare!
Honey can helps to lighten spots, exfoliates or cleanse your skin in different ways depending on how you mix it with other ingredients too.
I will apply on some honey over to my acne or spots when I have a outbreak under stress. It helps a lot and I mean it~! ^^

  • Winnie cheong says:

My skincare tip is No major secret : drinks loads of water to cleanse ourselves inside out! This will help ensure overall good health which will show on our glowing skin. ;)

Can’t wait to try this out – sounds like it will aid in facial rejuvenation and maintenance.

  • angeline says:

thanks for the opportunity to win !!

i believe in using a mask everyday, either in the morning or night time. have several different types to deal with the way your skin is feeling – could be soothing, moisturising, nutrient boosting, anti bacterial etc.. try to use the mask down to the decollete to have harmonised skin !

  • Adele says:

My favourite skincare tips are to drink water for hydration and sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen!

  • Teo kai sin says:

After skincare routine I will pat my face with a bit of force so as to make the products absorb better in deeper to my skin. My family always think I’m ‘slapping’ myself! Haha but they didn’t know with a little slapping it actually helps to complete the skincare routine

Left my comment on facebook id: teo kai sin

    Thank you

  • Cecilia Chng says:

I exfoliate once a week before doing mask, to ensure maximum absorption

  • Yume Lia (JoAnn) says:

Hi Mag! Hope you are doing well.

So excited to see you reviewing this nifty gadget and would absolutely love to be able to lay hands on one!

What I like about it – the long term effects from using it, not too strong that it will break you out and the durability from a single charge!

My skincare tips for sharing would be – to drink lots of water (but not just before sleep as there will be water retention and no one wants to look bloated). Have a balanced diet and cut down on oily food(We are what we eat after all and too much oily and heaty food may make our skin break out). And also, to do some simple lymphatic drainage exercise such as:
    1) Apply a light moisturizer or massage cream and start from the tip of the chin
    2) Pinch and hold some flesh with your left index + thumb finger and pinch and pull some flesh upwards (following your jaw line) with your right index + thumb finger
    3) Shift the position of your left index + thumb finger to where your right index + thumb finger is and repeat step 2.
    4) Do step 2 and 3 till you reach the base of your right ear and then go back to the middle of the chin again to repeat the steps till you reach the base of your left ear

:) Thank you for the awesome giveaway opportunity!
