Review | Foreo Luna + Giveaway

Foreo Luna Open

I’ve been trying the baby pink Foreo Luna for normal/sensitive skin over the past two weeks and have grown to enjoy the cleansing experience it offers.

Foreo Luna

A sonic cleansing device harnessing T-Sonic™ Technology, it promises to unclog pores, eliminate impurities and even remove makeup residue with its transdermal sonic pulsations (up to 8000/minute) channelled through silicone touch-points.

Foreo Luna Back and Front

One side of the hand-held machine has silicone bristles in gradated sizes to dislodge dirt and eliminate impurities, while the other ridged side has concentric silicone waves to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles using the anti-ageing mode with lower-frequency pulsations.

It has varying levels of sonic vibration controlled by the 3-button interface, so you can adjust the buzzing to your comfort level. The vibrating sensation feels like a gentle skin massage and seems to provide circulatory stimulation. I like using the highest setting when my skin feels grimy. Save for my nose area, this setting makes my skin feel clean but not stripped of moisture.

The nose area still has remaining sebum, though – if you’re hoping to get rid of whiteheads/blackheads with this particular device, you might not succeed; it is after all for sensitive skin and gentler in action. (I do wonder if the baby blue Luna for combination skin might be more effective in this aspect.)

I have read reviews where subsequent uses have led to a decrease in these facial banes, so I might see this in time to come. I do manual extraction to rid my nose of whiteheads and excess sebum and have found that the Foreo completes this specific cleansing process for me, rather than tackle the problem on its own.

Putting my cleanser on the bristles seems to foam it up better than having it on my face and applying the tool to it. Do note that the brand recommends four areas for cleansing, with each zone taking up 15 seconds. An interval comes after a minute of use and is marked by three—quick—successive pauses in the pulsation. Read all about it in the manual which has comprehensive information on how to use this device.

My skin falls under the sensitive category but I’ve not broken out from using this gadget or experienced other adverse effects so far. One negative review I read mentioned an immediate plumping effect that was the result of over-stimulation but the vibrations don’t seem quite that powerful, given their inability to vigorously deep-cleanse.

I’ve yet to try the anti-ageing mode but it’s a nifty idea, certainly. :) ETA: I’ve tried this function and rather enjoy it for my under-eye area – the gentle pulsation seems to subtly relieve that area of fluid and give a de-puffing effect. Urban (The Straits Times) mentions using it to relieve facial tension, as well as on “knotted brows and a tired neck”.

Created with hypoallergenic silicone that is non-porous and thus less susceptible to bacteria build-up, it can be washed easily and eliminates the need to replace brush heads like other mechanical exfoliators like the Clarisonic. Soft and non-abrasive, this material makes it suitable for daily use.

Foreo Luna Charger, Plug and Pouch

Fully waterproof, including its charging port, it promises up to 450 uses per full charge (which takes under an hour). With a long working span and no fiddly bits, this palm-sized skincare tool is perfect for travel too.

Foreo Luna Box

In Singapore, the Foreo Luna retails at S$299 and is available at Sephora stores island-wide.

    Hey Mag,

This giveaway is awesome! Was reading about this device just not long ago!

My skincare tip is there is no shortcut in life! I spend the same amount of time on putting on my makeup and removing them at night! I suffer from adult acne when I was 22 years as I never remove my makeup properly. Learnt the importance of removing my makeup thoroughly before I wash my face followed with my skincare products. By winning this device, it will further cleanse my face for me! I hope I will win! :)

    Thanks in advance!
    Graclyn

I have been trying to keep up with skincare routine since my early years. Unfortunately, i was not blessed with natural good skin and have all possible skin problems that you can name.

After many years of struggling, i came to realize that “Keeping it clean” is the solution. I make sure to remove my make up thoroughly. How much time i take to put on make up is also how much time i will spend to remove it!

I make sure to finish the last step with toner to eliminate any last traces left.

Hello Mag! First, thanks for the awesome giveaway! So here’s my skincare tip. I find it crucial to exfoliate regularly! Without exfoliating, all the expensive skincare products will be wasted even though they are applied on the skin.

    Thanks once again Mag! <3

I have sensitve and blemish skin too. Hence, I would use water-based products to calm my skin. I will do the facial scub and facial mask weekly to enhance the moisture.

    Hello, Mag!

I found this giveaway on 18th March, hope I still can submit my 2 cents haha!

I’m actually quite curious about this item because I tried Clarisonic and it broke me out :s

A skincare tips? Hmmm…I heard about this back 6 years ago. My teacher told me that normally, after shower, we would wipe our face downwards with the towel. He suggested us to change the direction to upwards so that our skin will not sag faster. I believe in this so I’ve been doing my skincare routine like that. Wipe my face upwards. White massaging the creams and serums onto my face, I also sort of go in upwards motion. It’s a mini massage I guess? Hehe! Hope it’s useful for you :)

Thanks for hosting the giveaway, Mag!

I have sensitive skin. I need Foreo Luna to help me turn all my problems; visible pore, dullness, uneven skin tone, wrinkle and etc into radiant, minimise pore and flawless. I look older compare to my age now. I hope to be the lucky one although I know the chances is super slim. May luck fall on me soon that one day I will win a skincare product/gadget to rescue me. As a busy parent, everything is go to my kids first before me. Thank you for the lovely giveaway.

Drink lots of water and have at least 8 hours of beauty sleep every night.
Beauty sleep is a must because our skin cell regenerates when we sleep and our blood circulation will be much better if we have enough sleep. And to achieve this, it is best to sleep by 11pm or latest by 12 am.
And not forgetting we must maintain a happy and cheerful mood. Because for every minute we are angry, we lose sixty seconds of happiness and our skin will age faster too!

Hi Mag! Thanks for doing such an awesome giveaway :)

My personal skin care tip may be extremely simple and common but I have always believed that the basics are what matters. Therefore, I strongly believe in H + H = Happiness & Hydration. Staying happy and drinking lots of water will keep our skin hydrated. This will allow our body and skin to naturally reflect it!

Stay Happy & Hydrated Mag! :D

Hi Mag, I always follow the 3 steps in face cleansing. Wash, tone and moisturize. Once a week I will do face scrub follow by a mask. I tend to get acne once in a while and I can’t use my cleansing brush when it happen. Hope to win this so that I can use it when I have breakouts as the gentle cleansing won’t worsen my acne. Thank you!! :D

    Hi Mag,

My beauty tip is to use cold water to wash my face and hair, which will make face feel less dry in certain parts and my hair less limp and oily compared to using hot or warm water.

Thank you for having the giveaway!

    Love,
    Jessie
