Here’s a look at Black Sugar, one of the nail polishes in the Tom Ford Fall 2013 colour collection.
A chocolate crème, it is infused with peekaboo copper micro-shimmer – now you see it, now you don’t. Upon observing the refined red sparkles on my nails, the first thing I thought of was lingerie: Though you can’t always see it, you know it’s there to tantalise! ;)
This polish isn’t as thin in texture as Carnal Red. There’s some measure of translucency with the first coat but it easily reaches a creamy opacity with a second one. Happily, like the other lacquer, it wears remarkably well and lasts unscathed for a stretch of almost a week…water immersion and arduous chores be damned. I’m pleased with its lasting power and look forward to trying more Tom Ford nail colours because they really do wear like iron, if these two are anything to go by. Granted I usually apply Seche Vite over my nail hues but not all of them last this long even with this topcoat on, especially with the amount of washing that I do.
Speaking of topcoats – the sprinkle of twinkles strangely does not show up better with them; in fact, I’d say they can dull its appearance just a little. I’ve found that the best way to discern the iridescence is angled lighting.
In Singapore, this nail lacquer is priced at S$45 for 12 ml and will be available from September 2013.
Such a lovely creme! I was trying to figure out what gave it that interesting complexity and turns out it’s the red shimmer. I didn’t notice it until you mentioned it and it really does give a nice touch to the brown.
Hi Sara,
Not the kind of colour I gravitate towards but it’s pretty and unusual (the milky tone in particular is not commonly seen).
Gorgeous colour! Looks fab!
Thank you, Sam!
It’s quite unusual, I must say. :) Hope you’ve been well, my dear.
