Thanks to a friend who alerted me to the 20% discount on BRTC BB Creams at Guardian Pharmacy, I was back at that drugstore on New Year’s Day, shortly after I’d made my last purchase of 2008 there! After testing the Jasmine Water BB Cream SPF30 (love the scent) and Glossy Shining BB Cream SPF37, I eventually decided on the latter because the former was too thick and pink for my liking, while I really liked the radiance that Glossy Shining imparted.
That said, it can come off a tad frosty, so you must be prudent in application. The effect is actually reminiscent of the Asia-exclusive MAC Hyper Real Foundation SPF 15 which I used quite often in the past, although the BRTC is thicker/creamier in texture. I found that my Sana Maikohan Powder tempered the frost factor, resulting in a glowy appearance. Originally priced at S$49, I bought this at the discounted price of S$39.20.
I later headed to John Little, where I discovered to my delight that the brands at its beauty department, Stardust, were 10-20% off. An additional storewide discount of 20% was offered to John Little and OCBC Robinsons Plantinum Visa Card members.
Using the John Little ValuePlus Card, I purchased the following:
Bourjois Eyeshadow in 08 Beige Rose – The retro vintage packaging is absolutely charming
Original retail price: S$20.40
Discounted price: S$14.68 (10% off + 20% off)
Canmake Bright Up Color in 04 – I really like the smooth texture of this highlighting fluid
Original retail price: S$29.90
Discounted price: S$21.52 (15% off + 20% off)
Canmake Powder Cheeks in PW20 – A satiny pink that would complement most of my eye looks
Original retail price: S$14.90
Discounted price: S$10.72 (15% off + 20% off)
In addition, I received an Anna Sui-inspired mirror phone dangly!
This card truly helps a makeup lover save money. On top of the periodic storewide discounts, members receive a 3% store rebate which can be used to offset future purchases!
thanks for the visit and comment!
cant wait to hear how ur bbcream is
Hello Yumeko, thank you for dropping by!
I had a nice short browse of your webby today and loved all your photos of Japanese makeup…wonderful. I'm linking to your blog! :)
The BB Cream is not so good on oil control, even with a fairly matte loose powder (I use it with Sana Maikohan) but the overall effect is beautifully glowy. I have to use blotting film (I use the Clean & Clear Grapefruit ones) throughout the day though.
Have you tried the latest Silky girl BB cream? Any comments?
Hi UptownGal,
I've tried the Silkygirl BB Cream at the store and it seems to be adequate in terms of colour matching (both shades adjust well). It spreads easily too and would make a lovely tinted moisturiser.
I'm not sure about their ingredients though – I couldn't see them as they were hidden beneath the price tag. The price is friendly (S$15.90, I think) but I'd really like to know what's in it before purchasing.
