Review | Lord & Berry Smudgeproof Waterproof Eyeliners

A month or so ago, I came across Lord & Berry Smudgeproof Waterproof Eyeliners (S$22.90). Impressed with their budgeproof quality, I ended up with staple colours #701 In the Black and #703 Black/Brown.

Made in Italy, these pencils have a tenacity that rivals most waterproof pencils but the formula is such that flaking occurs when liner is applied over powder and vice versa. Like waterproof pencils such as the Gosh ones, they glide on well. However, they have a tendency to flake on powdered eyes, especially when layered more than once.

The best way to wear these is alone, over bare skin or on slightly emollient lids created by base makeup or a creamy waterproof eyeshadow such as a MAC Paint or Benefit Creaseless Cream. They will set nicely over these products. These pencils work well on the lower lash lines and inner rims too but are best for tightlining – they truly last on the upper rims!

Available at John Little’s beauty concept store, Stardust, you should purchase them during the store’s periodic sale periods when they might be discounted by 20% or more.

I have oily eyelids. I’m using MUFE eyeliner and even for this aqua range, there is slightly some smudges. :( Do you think this range will be suitable? Any suggestion? thanks

Have you tried setting the Aqua Eyes with eyeshadow, JacQlin?

MAC Powerpoints are good waterproof eye pencils that last well when set with eyeshadow. You could try them alone first though.

The L&B ones are really smudgeproof but as I've mentioned, the downside to them is caking on the lid (thanks to their dryness), when applied over a powdered eye.

Not exactly I guess. Usually after using MUFE for tightlining, I will proceed to apply eyeshadow. I have tried many brands of eyeliners and so far, MUFE is among my top 3. I’m still on the search for a “real” smudge free eyeliner hee

AH, you use the MUFE for tightlining? So far, I like the L&B, Gosh and Prestige pencils for this. I also use MAC Powerpoints for this purpose.

I have the same pblm as JacQlin I think – I’m forever on a quest to find an eyeliner that does not smudge when I tightline my upper lid. I’ve tried the Revlon pencil, Bobbi Brown gel liner, Mac gel liner, Mac Engrave Powerpoint, Majolica liquid liner, and the list goes on.

It was only last week when I found the best combination for my super oily lids – Anna Sui eyeliner pencil followed by dabbing Bobbi Brown gel liner over. My tightlining has stayed on the whole day so far! There might be a very slight smudge on the area below my eyes when I reach office but it’s very very manageable. :D

Bought my 1st Gosh earlier on and that’s 20% discount :) Great saving. Wanted to get Mac powerpoint to try it out as well but every counter in Tang has such a LONG queue…*unbelievable*

    Hi Uptowngal, I remember! ;)

Thanks for sharing your waterproof lining tip.

You’ve reminded me of something too – a variation of that is to graze a gel liner with a Powerpoint and tightline with that. I hope this works for you as well.

Have fun with your Gosh pencil, Jac!

I was fortunate that I didn’t have to brave the Tangs crowd – my hubs collected my MAC for me, hee!
