I’d ordered OPI Nail Lacquer in Mad as a Hatter from eBay a week ago and it arrived in the mail on Friday. At first I thought it’d be similar to My Private Jet (a multi-coloured, holographic charcoal/almost-black lacquer from the same brand) but this polish is in a sparkle class of its own.
Part of the OPI Alice in Wonderland and way louder than My Private Jet, Mad as a Hatter is insanely glittery and crazily blinged-out. Its dominantly purple and silver base is a bed for pink, blue, green and red glitter, among other colours. As Scrangie puts it, it has “…rainbow glitter tossed in…The overall effect is a jewel-encrusted look.”
What I like about this is that it doesn’t have a gritty finish, unlike some glitter polishes. It actually dries flat and relatively smooth. I haven’t tried it with a topcoat (the swatch above is Mad as a Hatter neat) but I reckon that will up the amp on this already over-the-top nail colour!
