Review | L’Oréal HiP Color Chrome Eyeliners in 915 Silver Lightning and 965 Violet Volt

You probably know by now that L’Oréal HiP (short for ‘High Intensity Pigments’) has finally arrived in Singapore. Available at selected Watsons stores, the eyeshadow duos (S$18.90) and pencils (S$17.90) from this popular drugstore line promise rich pigment and intense colour payoff.

Although I couldn’t make it for the launch event, L’Oréal Singapore recently gave me some HiP products to try. Among them were Color Chrome Eyeliners in 915 Silver Lightning and 965 Violet Volt.

Made in Germany as most (all?) waterproof/smudgeproof eyeliners are, these pencils have shimmery exteriors that  replicate their core colours.

The brand calls them liquid pencils that offer the intensity of a liquid liner and the precision of a pencil. I’m not sure about the latter bit but they certainly have an almost molten feel to them. As their product name indicates, these creamy metallic liners impart a chrome finish.

They actually remind me of Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencils – like the latter, they have a buttery-smooth texture (they glide on like a dream!) and can be blended for a bit of makeup play before they set.

Silver Lightning is exactly as its name suggests – a strong silver flash of colour. Violet Volt is an intense cool-toned purple with a subtle metallic sheen (it’s not as foiled as the former). Both are budgeproof, once set. I like how their names allude to electricity!
