Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters in Singapore

All the rage on the beauty interwebs, the Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters have finally made their way here.

Available at Watsons at S$15.90, they can also be found at John Little and Metro. I expect to see them at more locations – a Revlon BA told me they’d probably be made permanent!

From top to bottom, left to right: Revlon ColorBurst Lip Butters in Brown Sugar, Peach Parfait, Fig Jam, Cherry Tart, Lollipop, Strawberry Shortcake, Sugar Plum and Macaroon (Macaroon is exclusive to the UK market but somehow made it here).

They’re touted as hydrating slicks of colour but swatching them made me sceptical. While they’re very nicely sheeny-shiny and have evenness of colour, they have a slight – sticky – resistance which made me wonder about their moisturising abilities. Sure enough, they feel somewhat tacky on the lips…much like how your lips would feel after some time, with a lipgloss layered over a lipstick. These butter balms certainly do not hydrate the lips.

Even so, I’m glad I bought a few – despite their ‘balm’ label, they are pigmented and have a pretty shine. They are also very easy to wear, in that they glide on smoothly, depositing even colour. I suppose a true lip salve beneath them would alleviate the hydration problem. The packaging with the coloured waffle-print caps is quite pleasant too. I’ll review these if I find the time.

As with several US drugstore brands, we do not receive the full range – we currently only have 8 out of the 20 shades that are available. For swatches of the complete range, do visit Karla Sugar.

Named after sweet treats, these have the candied tones of dessert hues and unfortunately, the stickiness of confectionery too. If you don’t mind this, do explore the varied colours. Have fun picking out a shade for yourself! ;)

I told myself no more lipstick/balm purchases for the next 6months but when I set foot in Phuket’s BigC hypermarket and saw this at 249Baht, I grabbed a Peach Parfait. It was about S$10. Whoever is landing on Thai grounds, should grab a whole bunch there!

Must look out for these when I arrive – haven’t seen them in Australia as yet. I’m disappointed that they’re not more balm like though. Will still probably buy at least Lollipop!

I am so glad that they have finally reached our shores. Metro is currently having 20% off for revlon products so I got Macaroon for only $12.70, which is still ok. I have 15 out of the 20 colours, all of them bought from eBay because it’s much cheaper. I only bought macaroon here in Singapore because it doesn’t look as if it’s avaliable in US.

I think a lot of people complain that they are not moisturizing enough. But I feel they are as good as my Dior lipsticks but at a fraction of the price. This allows me to collect and try out so many colours! :) and the neatest thing of all is majority of the colours are very flattering. I have already bought a backup for my fav peach parfait! :)

I hope it’s permanent! I picked up a few of these, really great. The watson’s I went to was out of peach parfait so i had to hunt around a few outlets to get it.

Oh Mag! They swatch pretty on you. The top row middle shade looks like cherry tart & second row from top extreme left looks like macaroon.

    Hi B,

That’s really cheap! Thank you for sharing. I have a friend who’s there now. Hmmm…. ;)

    Hi Sam,

They’re quite pigmented and don’t work like balms on me. Some people find them very moisturising, though.

Lollipop reminds me of MAC Pink Poodle. It’s a gorgeous bubblegum pink shade! :D

    Hi Lavenderneo,

Glad you love them. Lucky you – you’re getting the US shades! :D

    Hi AhCapp,

    That’s an awesome collection! ;)

It’s always a joy to find something that’s affordable and works. These are very pretty, I must admit, though I wish they were more moisturising on me.

    Hi Mei,

According to the Revlon BA, they’re here to stay but who knows? I hope you find/have found Peach Parfait. It seems to be a very popular colour.

    Hey Lavenderneo,

That’s great! I know they work for some but not on others. It’s great that they’re affordable too. ;)

    Hi Farah,

Yes, they swatch quite well. The colours are labelled correctly; maybe it’s monitor colour difference? :)

I’ve been looking for the color Creme Brulee but it’s not available in Sinagpore… :( Oh well… but the new spring collection is out, and I’m setting my sights on them!
