Lancôme Rouge In Love Lipsticks (Asia Edition)

Here is Lancôme Rouge in Love, the brand’s new lipstick range that departs from their regular lipsticks, both in appearance and texture.

This permanent addition will appeal to a broader spectrum of ladies, not only with the offering of wearable lip-hugging hues but also with its chic packaging.

Inspired by love notes written with a lipstick, the case features a ‘mirror’ inscribed with the name of the lippy.

The brushed metal cap, bearing a sexy red top-stitch detail reminiscent of couture stockings, contrasts nicely with the shiny base of the silver tube to form a modern silhouette – certainly a refreshing change from staid lipstick packaging!

Making colour a game, an amusement, a whim.

In 27 colours – 9 shades in 3 distinct subsets that represent three different times of the day in the life of a modern and stylish woman – this palette of prêt à porter colours encourages you to wear them according to your fancy, to match your mood in the morning (Jolis Matins), evening (Boudoir Time) and night (Tonight Is My Night).

Made in Japan, the colours that we get here are somewhat sheerer than their western counterparts. They are, however, formulated with the refined texture and smooth shimmer that Japanese lipsticks are lauded for, making them wearable additions to any makeup repertoire.

Below are swatches of all 27 lipsticks.

As comforting as a balm, as colourful as a lipstick.

Here’s the secret to these ‘radiant shades’ with a featherlight feel:

The texture melts on application, leaving a concentrate of colour on the lips. At the heart of its formula lies a colour protecting creamy wax that forms a fine film on the surface of the lips on which pigments and satiny agents are shielded.

With stunning colour, enduring hydration and striking shine, lips feel smooth and soft thanks to the nourishing and protecting oils.

Rouge In Love plays with the whole spectrum of pearl particles: tone-on-tone for luminous natural colour; more intense particles to add shine and play with contrasts; golden pearls for a deeper and more sophisticated glossy effect.

Here are 3 bespoke Rouge in Love application tips to make the most of this lipstick wardrobe:

To veil the lips in a light, sheer shade, pout as if you were blowing a kiss, simply dab on Rouge In Love with your fingertips. An ultra-simple, bee-stung effect.

Play with contrasts by placing a lighter touch in the centre of the lips: they will look even plumper.

For a more sophisticated effect, an extremely elaborate look and intense colour, apply it with a brush, starting at the corners.

The Rouge in Love concept is a charming one but I particularly like the name – it’s short, sweet and memorable.

In Singapore, Rouge in Love retails at S$40 and is available at all Lancôme counters across the island.

Love the packaging! Nothing wrong with lipsticks that are a bit sheer – good for work.

      Hi Sam,

The packaging caught my attention too, when I first saw them online.

I agree. The texture of these are pretty good; definitely representative of Japanese lippies. :)

love the packaging and the colors; but honestly, some of content for this marketing campaign just over the top. case in point:

–> when my friends and i first saw this in the local press, we rolled our eyes. this applies to all lipsticks and are not really tips; they’re simply application techniques. maybe the second is a tip, that’s it

and of course, having lipstick shades for different times of the day is just marketing BS. but hey, it’s cute and quirky!

really, brands do need to treat their target clients as intelligent consumers at least most of the time; cut out (too much) fluff! this looks like a really nice product and it should speak for itself

      Hi Stella,

To be honest, I added in the ‘bespoke’ bit to carry on the lipstick wardrobe metaphor but I understand where you’re coming from. The tips are somewhat universal, after all. Though I still think they’re helpful to people who aren’t really into makeup, like us! :)

I agree with you re: fluff and spiel; a product ought to be able to speak for itself. Yet, marketing is still an integral part of selling makeup, so it’s something we cannot avoid. (I’d like to see something that wows me; it’s been a while.)

I love the silver tube; this alone made me desire this lippy when I first saw it online! :D I do like the idea of lipstick on a mirror – nicely executed in the RiL packaging.

      Hi Mandy,
