Penhaligon’s 2012 Christmas Gift Collection

Penhaligon’s gift boxes for this Christmas season are spectacular in every sense of the word: An opulent celebration of the brand’s heritage, the fragrance troves showcase the classic pastime of theatre-going, each recounting the story of a Victorian musical production.

The creation of JKR, the same design company behind last year’s holiday collection, this ‘British night at the theatre’ concept is a quirky yet classy theme that cleverly conveys Penhaligon’s sensibilities.

Printed on matte soft touch-paper, the collection combines hand-drawn illustrations with bold colourways, marrying the traditional with the modern – representative of the brand itself.

The eccentric images, replete with numerous details, depict characters from the audience to the players to the orchestra musicians, with a menagerie of animals run amok in the theatre. I was amused to see an octopus and a family of penguins among the graphics!

Available are:

The Miniature Fragrance Collection for Gents comprising Quercus, Blenheim Bouquet, Endymion, Sartorial and Opus 1870 (S$90/5 x 5 ml)

The Miniature Fragrance Collection for Ladies comprising Artemisia, Gardenia, Malabah, Lily of the Valley and Ellenisia (S$90/5 x 5 ml)

The Bath & Body Collection, a set of 100 ml travel-size shower gels and body lotions in three of the brand’s most popular fragrances: Malabah, Ellenisia and Bluebell (S$120/6 x 100 ml)

The minis are an excellent way to explore Penhaligon’s scents but if you’re hoping for something full-sized, a bigger box is available in 2 designs for you to create a Penhaligon’s Bespoke Gift Box (complimentary with S$300 and above spent, inclusive of a 100 ml fragrance).

Above are some examples of such a pampering box. Can you spot Juniper Sling and Peoneve, as well as the brand’s perfume pendant? ;)

Besides these gift boxes, Penhaligon’s offerings for this festive season include:

Penhaligon’s Neroli Candle and Box of Matches (S$110)

A warming homely scent that suits our tropical climes, this limited edition candle – composed of neroli, rosewood, orange blossom, jasmine, bergamot, balms and cedarwood – is accompanied with an illustrated box of long, elegant matches.

Heritage Candle Lid & Base (S$66)

One of my favourite things from the store, this silver-plated candle-holder pair is a functional yet stylish gift. Penhaligon’s suggests engraving the under-lid for a personalised touch. I love the bow accent, a distinguishing feature of the brand. Penhaligon’s candles are S$88.

Crystal Fragrance Bottles/Atomisers

Hand-blown, hand-cut and hand-polished by a family business dedicated to the craft, these ornate flaçons made from English crystal are one-of-a-kind pieces to house your favourite fragrance (Penhaligon’s or not). The store will gladly decant your perfume into the receptacle that you’ve selected but do note that the original scent bottle might not be able to retain its original form as the securing parts that keep the fragrance air-tight will usually have to be removed.

Prices start from S$400 for these exquisite pieces.

Silver-Plated Holly Leaf and Silver-Plated Mistletoe (S$53)

With their modern lines and shiny surfaces, these traditional Christmas symbols now have a trendy look. Measuring approximately 10 x 10 cm, each piece is presented in a Penhaligon’s Eau de Nil gift box.

Look out for Penhaligon’s in my Christmas giveaways this year! ~
