Pop Beauty Eye Cake/Liner Cake in Darkness

May 29, 2009

Originally priced at S$29, Sephora at Ngee Ann City is now offering the Pop Beauty Eye Cakes at S$18. Made in Taiwan, these eyeshadow quints are housed in a cute circular tin.

I bought Liner Cake in Darkness, an Eye Cake that consists of an electric blue, a multi-coloured charcoal with dominant blue shimmer, a grape, a moss and a gunmetal. Not all the colours in this striped palette are pigmented; in fact, a couple were slightly difficult to swatch and unmemorable in terms of texture (I can’t remember which ones offhand).

That said, I don’t mind the extra effort because the grey is a dream. This smooth and shimmery shadow reminds me of the pewters that I love, only lighter. The shade has a hint of mauve that lifts it and makes it more complex than it looks. It also pairs easily with the velvety plum (the most pigmented of the five) to make a pretty smokey eye.

Designed to be liners used wet or dry, these five shadows can be applied on the lids as well. Affordable and versatile, this set will help you create both colourful and single-toned smokes. :)

Hm, you description made me stop wanting them :P

I thought the colours would be darker, but it seems it’s not :)

    Hey Plue,

The green and plum are quite dark! :) They smoke out very well; do swatch them when you see them. This quint has good reviews on MUA despite the more difficult colours.

By the way, it is recommended that this palette be used wet. ;)

No chance for me to swatch it since we don’t have Sephora here, and I can only get them thru sprees :(

Oh well, might just risk it n buy it! LOL!

Just buy it! :D The colours are all right, once you get them off the pan. I did a soft smoke and a heavy smoke with them just now. :)

    Hello ohplasticlips,

I'm not sure if these are still available at sale price. You could call Sephora to check. :)
