An afternoon text message from Iris alerted me to the arrival of Japanese magazines Cutie and Sweet at Kinokuniya. She informed me that the latest issue of Cutie is bundled with a Care Bears mirror and a Care Bears pouch, while Sweet is giving away a large Cher tote and a pass case.
I didn’t get Sweet but I pounced on Cutie (S$16.40 before the Kinokuniya discount) – the Care Bears are adorable, plus I love pouches – and bought it without really examining what the gwps looked like…
…but was in turned charmed and impressed by the sweetness and quality of the two items when I opened the gift box at home. Excellent Jap mag giveaways, both! ♥
You can watch a video about them here, where you will see that the mirror is big and the pouch roomy (it’s almost as big as the magazine itself).
Incidentally, there is a new Care Bear exclusive to Japan known as Sweet Sakura Bear. Here’s a warm Care Bear hug to you, Iris dear! :D

I like that they are still preserving the look of the Care Bears like how we used to see them during our time-not the whole remodeled type.
I know exactly what you mean, Chevvie! I’m sure you’ve seen those modified ones. Some are weird, while some actually look monstrous. :P
Hey Mag,
Getting this mag and Sweet was just about the only bright spot about my day yesterday, the Care Bears always make me smile. That’s the first time I’ve heard of the Sweet Sakura bear! I prefer the old Care Bears artwork and plush bears. The new ones are slimmer and less cute!
Iris dear,
THANK YOU for your kind SMS alert! These are so cute and value for money. The original Care Bears are soft, colourful and cheery, while the newer models are just too smooth and thin! Have you seen the modern ones at Action City? They’re so wrong (they have a scary bear with fangs or something like that) but I can see their ‘edgy’ appeal to today’s youngsters.
Ya! And I don’t get the whole ‘strawberry shortcake wearing platoon shorts’ thingy….
OK-I’m an auntie kekeke
No way, Chev! I feel the same. SS had her own charm in that sweet dress (as did Blueberry Muffin)!
