Shiseido RichRocks by Dick Page

Dick Page's Rich Rocks

I passed by a Shiseido counter recently and saw RichRocks, the holiday collection conceived by Dick Page, the brand’s makeup artistic director. It’s a small albeit wearable collection; its artistic inspiration both a visual and verbal delight (see below).

RichRocks Inspiration

Inspired by the richness and lustre of Earth’s rocks and crystals, Dick Page based this collection on semi-precious stones such as pyrite, rose quartz and septarian, among others.

Shiseido Rich Rocks Swatches

From left to right: Smoothing Eyeliner Pencil in GR503 Golden Green, Luminizing Satin Eye Colors in BR618 Pyrite Sun, SV817 Pyrite Crystal and  BL616 Blue Stone, Perfect Rouge in PK421 Rose Quartz

The items didn’t bowl me over – I’d expected more complexity of colour from the luscious descriptions – but the eye colours (S$43 each) are beautifully pigmented (they took a while to remove with tissue alone), while the lipstick is delightfully silky. I also liked the smoothness of the finely-milled shimmery powder that promises luminosity. Quality is evidently present in these products and all in all, I’d peg this as a refined makeup collection, more elegant than trendy…its inclusion of a teal mascara notwithstanding! ;)

      Hey Chev,

Give them a try on the hand first? I actually think the pink is wearable – it’ll made a nice complement to the smokey eyes the shadows in the collection can create. It might not work as well on warmer skin tones though.

I did swatch them ytd, the pink cannot be seen on the back of my hand at all.

Hey, Tang’s 15% today, prolly getting MAC Warm and Cozy might be a better bet. Shades look similar.

Silly me, I get what you mean now, Chev. I thought you mean the shade was difficult to wear, not the sheerness! :P 15%? That’s great! Happy shopping!
