Ready, Set, Jet!

When I first saw the press release for this new MAC travel retail collection, the stunning visual caught my eye – I love the sculpted eyes and soft, clean lips.

As the name suggests, these sets are found only at airports and downtown duty-free stores. Travellers will find these ‘smart starters, cool combos and can-do kits’ very useful indeed.

Phase One comprises the brand’s best-selling products in trusty trios and quintessential quintets:

  • Packed to Go: Lipstick (£28.50/S$67)

Pretty Please – Blossoming rose pink (Lustre)
Plumful – Pale pink pearl (Lustre)
Hug Me – Flesh pink (Lustre)

C-Thru – Peachy beige with shimmer
Lust - Soft muted pink
Cultured – Opalescent mauve pink

  • Packed to Go: Cremesheens (£33/S$84)

Boy Bait – Light natural beige with pearl
Over Indulgence – Neutral brown
Double Dare – Coral red

  • Packed to Go: Assorted Black Mascaras (£29/S$62)

Plush Lash: Plush Black – Black
Zoom Lash: Zoomblack – Black
Dazzle Lash: Black Dazzle – Black

  • Packed to Go: Assorted Black Eyeliners (£30/S$71)

Powerpoint Eye Pencil: Engraved – Black
Kohl Power Eye Pencil: Feline – Black
Penultimate Eye Liner: Rapidblack – Black

The Packed to Go Lipstick trio is a genius combination of  wearable shades (it has two of my favourite MAC lipsticks in it!), while the Lipglass trio contains great nudes/neutrals. I have a feeling that these, together with the black eyeliner trio, will sell out very quickly.

  • Look in a Box: Girl Next Door (£25.75/S$78)

Eye Shadow in Grand Entrance – Soft peachy nude (Starflash)
Eye Shadow in Smoke & Diamonds – Silver taupe (Starflash)
Iridescent Powder in Belightful - Gilded peach bronze
Cremesheen Glass in Deelight – Mid-tone neutral
Zoom Lash Mascara in Zoomblack – Black

  • Look in a Box: A Very Stylish Girl (£27.75/S$78)

Eye Shadow: Dreammaker – Light gold (Starflash)
Eye Shadow: Glamour Check – Deep copper (Starflash)
Bronzing Powder: Golden – Finely spun golden with soft pearl
Cremesheen Glass: Looks Like Sin – Sheer deep beige
Zoom Lash Mascara: Zoomblack – Black

  • Look in a Box: Rocker Chick (£30.50/S$78)

Eye Shadow: Electra – Silver with icy shimmer (Frost)
Eye Shadow: Black Tied – Black with silver sparkle (Velvet)
Lipstick: Hue – Soft pale pink (Glaze)
Lipglass: Oyster Girl – Freshwater pink
Eye Kohl: Smolder – Black
Dazzle Lash: Black Dazzle – Black

The good thing about these sets is that you can create simple and intense looks with them.

Phase Two includes portable eye shadow palettes, a lip/powder compact and two brush kits:

Shroom – Soft beige with shimmer (Satin)
Naked Lunch – Minimal pink with shimmer (Lustre)
Greensmoke – Tarnished olive (Frost)
Tempting – Sinfully rich coco (Lustre)
Showstopper – Deep blackened brown (Matte)
Stormy Love – Metallic hunter green (Lustre)

  • Packed to Go: 6 Cool Smoky Eyeshadows (£25.50/S$65)

Satin Taupe – Taupe with silver shimmer (Frost)
Beauty Marked – Black/red with sparkle pearl (Velvet)
Carbon – Intense black (Matte)
Seedy Pearl – Chilled lavender pink (Frost)
Tendersmoke – Neutral earth clay (Matte)
A Brown Suit – Metallic cabernet (Lustre)

One of the stalwarts of MAC travel retail, these eyeshadow sets combine interesting yet wearable shades.

  • Packed to Go: 4 Lips & Pressed Powder (S$63)

Lipglass: Poetic License – Pale apricot
Lipglass: Rosehips – Neutral pink
Lipglass: Riviera Ready – Light beige
Lipglass: Quick Change – Muted rose
Iridescent Powder: Belightful – Gilded peach bronze

This compact with cool and warm tones will be great for changeable lip looks.

  • 5 Shape & Perfect Brush Bag (£44/S$114)

168SE, 187SE, 212SE, 219SE, 275SE

129SE, 190SE, 224SE, 242SE, 266SE

Phase One is already available at MAC travel retail locations, while Phase Two will be available from March 2011.
