Review | Clinique Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm in Super Strawberry

I have a weakness for fatty pencils. Be they for the lips or the eyes, I’m attracted to them because their shape makes application that much easier. Better yet if they’re retractable – bye bye fiddly sharpeners!

Of late, I’ve been using Clinique Chubby Stick in Super Strawberry (S$26). A tinted lip balm that surprisingly lasts, this product does as it promises – it gives me luscious-looking lips while keeping them soft.

On its own, it’s a cheerful shade of strawberry pink (lighter than it looks in the tube) which can build up to a semi-medium rose. It is essentially a cool-toned shade and can cool warmer lip hues to a certain extent. It doesn’t have depth of colour, so it certainly won’t overly-dilute your other lip colours.
Some people have found the Chubby Sticks drying but I’ve also friends who love them. Like the latter, I am fond of their moisturising feel – thank you, mango butter and shea butter – and I like it best as a moisturising base for other lipsticks.

I particularly love it with a blackened berry like Urban Decay Lipstick in Confession.

It works to tone down the darkness and gives me a pretty and wearable mauve hue which I love!

I love the last pic!!! The equation is so cute! This is Makeup Math Version 2.0!
The Chubby Stick looks very nice ine the swatch. It also seems to have a little shine, how loveky
? also would you say it feels sticky on the lips
?
So it wont need a lipgloss
can’t believe how dark the UD Lipstick on it’s own is!
btw nice colour choice
Great combination! My Chubby Stick is about a third of the way through – not bad for almost a year!
Hey Kas,
Yes, lipstick logic.
Hi Moni,
Thank you~!
It does have shine but it isn’t super glossy. It doesn’t feel sticky at all.
Hey Sam,
That’s great! These are so good to have.
Love the colours and the makeup math!
Hey Jamilla,
Hehe! It goes beautifully with deeper shades!
