Review | Sleek Makeup Brow Kit

New to the Sleek permanent makeup range is this brow kit.

Comprising a brow wax, a brow powder, two mini synthetic brushes and a pair of mini tweezers, this little compact is a somewhat comprehensive set for brow makeup.

The brand sent me Light, a light brown-based duo, to review. With its warm tones, this palette is suitable for people with red/brown/tawny-coloured hair. It’s not my colour, so I’m reviewing this based on texture and performance alone.

The brow wax is more a cream than a wax because of its emollient texture. It glides easily onto the brows and tames them quickly. However, it can be too smooth on its own for lasting wear. Setting it with the brow powder helps and while a darker shade would be stark with the creaminess of the wax, the good thing here is that the light hue of the brow powder works well with the wax to impart a shade that’s not over-the-top. The emollience can interfere with the evenness of application, so some blending is necessary (do pardon the unruly brow in the photo; I’ve absolutely no time to clear/cut my strays!).

I was glad to find that the synthetic brushes work well despite their petite size.

Sadly, the tweezers don’t work for me – they feel tight and can’t grasp my brow hairs at all. I’m far happier with my Rubis and Tweezerman ones and seldom use the miniatures included in brow kits anyway. If you’re counting on using this mini as your basic brow grooming tool, I’d suggest that you invest in a good pair instead.

Minus the tweezers, I’d say this is a basic brow compact that can work for many people. Retailing at £7.99/US$9.99, it can be found at Superdrug in the UK, as well as on the Sleek website which ships internationally.
