Benefit Box O’ Powder Ultra Plush Lipgloss Collection for Summer 2012

Soon, you can pair your favourite Benefit boxed blush with its very own lip colour.

Inspired by the popular Benefit Box O’ Powders, the Ultra Plush Lipgloss shades correspond to the powder hues.

The collection comprises:

  • Bella Bamba Ultra Plush Lip Gloss (sheer bright watermelon)
  • Coralista Ultra Plush Lip Gloss (sheer coral)
  • Dallas Ultra Plush Lip Gloss (dusky rose)
  • Dandelion Ultra Plush Lip Gloss (soft pearly pink)
  • Hoola Ultra Plush Lip Gloss (shimmering golden nude)
  • Sugarbomb Ultra Plush Lip Gloss (shimmering pinky nude)

 Matchy-match-match!

It’s brilliant of the brand to roll out gloss counterparts to their complexion powders, given how popular the latter are. Fans will appreciate the complementary cheek+lip looks.

Left to right: Bella Bamba, Hoola, Dandelion, Dallas, Coralista, Sugarbomb

These lychee-scented glosses apply silkily, while imparting a shiny finish. They are fairly pigmented and can be easily built up or sheered out.

I appreciate their non-sticky texture which feels very comfortable on the lips – it reminds me of the smooth formula of The Body Shop Hi-Shine Lip Treatment, which I love. I tested one (Sugarbomb) on my lips at the product preview and was happy to discover that it lasts fairly long despite its glide.

Some might look askance at the squeeze-tube packaging with a slant-tip applicator but I personally like it because glosses keep fresher this way, in my experience.

In Singapore, these colour-coded lip lovelies will retail at an affordable S$26 and are available from July 2012.

Sweet cheeks meet luscious lips!

True to its fun-loving image, Benefit Cosmetics hosted a sweet and colourful preview event that was quite memorable. Here are some photos from the party which had a cheery ice cream/confectionery theme:

BOP Beauties flanked by macarons and candy. Yum!

A jar full o’ Benefit BOP Glosses!

The brand held a game in which the party guests had to match the BOPs+Ultra Plush Lipglosses to their corresponding ice cream flavour. According to the staff, the cones in the photo above are inaccurately labelled. Want to hazard a guess as to which ones are erroneously matched? ;)

I particularly loved the wooden Melissa & Doug Slice and Scoop Sundae Set that the brand used as a prop for the party; I like how the Velcroed bananas and strawberries can be cut and how the ice cream scoops/toppings can be layered on.

I can’t help but be drawn to food-related toys…they appeal to the little girl in me. :P Now I need to find this ice cream toy set for my daughter! ♡

    bella bamba is my favorite!

  • Paris B says:

I’m looking forward to try these glosses! I read they are sheer so I’d likely go for a colour like Bella Bamba or Coralista, two of my fave blushes anyway :D Thanks for the heads up! Are they already available in Singapore?

  • dblchin says:

I like the fact that they made the collection cohesive but somehow or rather the packaging on these lip glosses looked too complicated.
Then again is Benefit, what can i say?

  • germs says:

ohh bella bamba is such a sweet raspberry! i don’t have any of their blushers, but this is tempting me to buy both the blush and gloss together :D

  • Sam says:

This is such a good idea! Looking out for it!

  • marta says:

This looks way too cute. I’m not such a fan of Benefit but their packaging, names and ideas are quite tempting ;)

  • Jan s says:

Ooh!! What a brilliant idea. I must have coralista! And I’ve seen these ice cream set toys at isetan or takashimaya. Very Japanese :)

  • makeupmag says:

    Hi Meryl,

I love the candylicious pix too! :D

  • makeupmag says:

    Hey PB,

Actually, they’re somewhat pigmented but seem sheer because of their smooth texture, I think. Sugarbomb is MLBB, so it’s hard to judge from that one but Dallas showed up quite opaque on my lips with just one layer.

They’ll be here in July. :)

    Hey Clara!

Am not sure what you mean re: complicated packaging; they’re easy-to-use squeeze tube glosses…or were you referring to the boxed packaging? :) I guess the boxes are meant to match the original BOPs.

  • makeupmag says:

    Hey Germs,

The Benefit prices have been reduced here, so that’s a good reason as any to buy a BOP pair. ;)

  • makeupmag says:

    Hey Sam,

    You’ll love them, I think. :D

  • makeupmag says:

    Hi Marta,

It’s certainly an inspired idea to match the popular boxed powders. :) Let me know what you think if you get any!

  • makeupmag says:

    Hi Jan!

Let me know what you think of the Coralista gloss. I like that they’re priced very reasonably.

Toys r Us carries Melissa and Doug! ;)

  • Sophia says:

the pictures are so pretty! :)

  • seishouai says:

Coralista & Dandelion glosses are calling my name! haha…

And you find such wooden “cutting” toys from ELC or Toys’Rus…i have a set for my boy!

    • makeupmag says:

      Hi Pris,

      Hope you like them.

Yes, am going to find the ice cream set at ToysRUs! I have so many ‘cook-cook’ sets actually, thanks to my older kids, but I don’t have wooden ones…

  • Jenna says:

Where can I get the ice cream jar thingy?!?!
