Here’s a quick look at the second in the series of 4 palettes that Majolica Majorca is releasing in succession this year to commemorate its 10th anniversary.
Part of the brand’s Chapter 37 Moonlight Virgin collection for Summer 2013, this eye/lip palette is warmer in tone than The Little Humming Book II.
In it are:
- Eye Cream Base in No. 1 Earth Land – A pale tan eyeshadow primer
- Eye Shadow in Water Mirror – A shimmery pale aqua
- Eye Shadow in No. 3 Night Dress – A shimmery pale golden beige
- Lip Gloss in No. 4 Swan Bill – A pale coral nude gloss formulated with the brand’s Royal Jelly EX (acacia honey, royal jelly extract and beeswax)
Unlike the first palette with its dark base that can create deeper duo-chromed shades from its pastel hues, this one is more straightforward. Strangely, aside from the graphics on the pages, the colours are incongruous with the moonlight theme. I don’t gravitate towards pastels but I must admit the palette is quite aptly summery; the aqua and sandy shades reminding me of the beach.
It’s not something I’d purchase because of my fondness for deeper tones but it’s a pretty combination (much like a tamer version of Lunasol’s blue-gold combinations) and isn’t too striking for everyday wear. That said, it would be nice if there were a dark liner shade in it to more easily create a finished eye look.
In Singapore, this palette retails at S$25.90 and is exclusively available at Watsons Singapore.
