Here’s a look at some of the products in the MAC x Disney Cinderella collection, a collaboration inspired by the upcoming live-action film scheduled to be released in March 2015.
Directed by Kenneth Branagh, the movie features Lily James in the titular role and Cate Blanchett as the Wicked Stepmother.
Unlike last year’s dramatic Maleficent collection, the Cinderella packaging looks un-MAC and cheap, despite the iridescent lavender with a lilac/pink flash. The gold is a nice touch but it doesn’t take away the plasticky, kiddy-toy appearance.
With merely the printed words ‘Disney Cinderella’, the packaging is spartan at best and blah at worst. A pity, given the tale of transformation. It would’ve been delightful if they’d played on the multi-faceted nature of the glass shoe as shown in the trailer above!
Fortunately, the products themselves are nicely wearable, as you can tell from the swatches. This isn’t the complete collection and I don’t have the names of everything yet but will update this post as soon as I have more information.
Top to bottom: Fluidline in Little Black Bow, Studio Eye Gloss in Lightly Tauped, Pigment, Lipstick, Lipglass, Iridescent Powder.
The standout item is the eye gloss with its iridescent rainbow sparkles. It’s impractical and will crease like mad on the lids but if you’d like to create that glossy eye look that seems de rigueur on the fashion runways, it’s a fun product to try!
This collection launches here in Singapore on 6 March 2015 at Tangs and on 13 March 2015 at Ngee Ann City and Bugis.
