Sephora in Singapore: Ion Orchard Store

The largest Sephora store in Asia and only second in size to the biggest one in the world located in France’s Champs-Élysées, Sephora at Ion Orchard has an undeniably vast interior. Unfortunately, the brands it carries are neither extensive in range nor as impressive as its size, falling sadly short of expectations.

Forget about NARS – a reliable source has informed me that the brand will not be making its way to Sephora at all, having learnt of this directly from a store manager. However, I was told by one of the beauty advisors that the NARS and Urban Decay shipment was delayed, with no definite time of arrival (!). Another BA mentioned that Sephora intends to gather feedback regarding these brands and others like Philosophy before bringing them in.

I wish someone would verify this once and for all, just so we wouldn’t be kept in suspense. That said, the Clarins, Clinique, SKII and even MAC that I saw there revealed that the people in charge prefer to keep things safe – some would say boring – where beauty retail is concerned.

A quick sweep of the store reveals brands that are available at the Ngee Ann City store, as well as a few newcomers. Among others, we thankfully get to say hello to:

Burt’s Bees – So, so adorable and wonderful-smelling! I love Burt’s Bees products and always think of sweetness and babies when I use them. :) The Super Shiny Lip Gloss (S$13) and Lip Shimmer (S$12) smell particularly good; the former contains citrus scents while the latter has the peppermint tingle and scent characteristic of Burt’s Bees lipbalms.

Crazylibellule and the Poppies – An extensive range of intriguing scents that come in both liquid and solid forms, the colourful packaging captures the eye immediately.

Make Up For Ever – Not so new but more accessible, now that there’s no need to traipse all the way to the brand’s stand-alone store location at Stamford House.

Principessa – Cutesy pink products for the urban princess.

Skeen+ – A trendy, anti-ageing skincare brand from France for men.

Smashbox – It’s good to see this brand return to our shores. I remember when it was available at Bugis Junction…where Urban Decay could be found in the past as well (Sephora SG management, are you getting the hint? ;)). The primers feel absolutely smooth and I was especially pleased to see the line-filler in a wand, Filter with Dermaxyl™ Complex.

Talika – Not only does this brand make growth gels for lashes and brows, I discovered that it also has a bust serum in its range!
