A Gift! – Estée Lauder Pure Color Eyeshadow in 76 Midnight Star

I’d spotted this eyeshadow during a Metro sale last year but decided to forgo it for other makeup distractions. Half a year on, Kas surprised me with it for my birthday last month, proving that when something is meant to be yours, it’ll find its way to you somehow! :)

A beautiful blackened blue shot through with silver shimmer, the depth of colour in Midnight Star makes it perfect for lining, as well as a smokey eye. Labelled a metallic shadow, it has a touch of powdery roughness but it easily evens out with some blending.

The intense hue gradates nicely on my eye and I like how it blends well with a contour colour.

Many thanks to Kas for a thoughtful Mag gift! :)

Swacthed it looks really diff. The blackened blue looks like Blue Sheen from MAC Semi Precious.

      Hi Farah,

Blue Sheen is more purple, though!

My pleasure! I was totally surprised that this was the shade you had picked out yourself – Makeup ESP :D I have the green and copper-gold versions; I bought my mom the gold one too :)

Thanks again, Kas! It’s such a me colour!

I will take a look at the gold and green versions when I’m at the EL counter next time!

I thought blue sheen was pretty true blue.

http://www.temptalia.com/images/summer2011/mac_semipreciousshadowdupes012.jpg <- looking at this, maybe there are indeed violet tones/microshimmer particles(2nd fm left is blue sheen)

      Hey Farah,

The piece that I swatched veered a lot towards purple-blue. I passed on it because I prefer something bluer, plus I have a few of the dupes Temptalia mentioned! ;)
