Despite their extensive range of eyeshadow colours, the choices are oddly limited when it comes to red lipsticks from Shu Uemura. This will change with the Sweet Reds collection.
Here are 5 of the 6 Rouge Unlimited lipsticks in the mini collection:
- Baby Flame
- Mon Shu Red Pure
- Sweet Devil Rouge
- Lacquer Red
- Spiky Rose
Missing from the photos is Dolly Red (an orange-red) but it will be released with the rest when they launch here in October 2013.
They aren’t straight-up warm/cool reds but offer tonal variations of the striking hue. They aren’t scarily intense either, which will might appeal to ladies who prefer softer reds. As you can tell from the swatches, they do build up to an opaque finish. Available only in the Supreme Shine and Semi-Matte formulas, all of them have a lovely silky glide and are fragrance-free – characteristic of many Japanese lipsticks.
Strangely, this sextet will be limited edition; I’d expected them to be permanent, given the dearth of reds in the brand’s lipstick line-up. In Singapore, they will retail at S$33.
Oh this Spiky Rose looks gorgeous :) I think where there is a big variaty of red’s every girl is able to find the right one for her.

Hi Luchessa,
I like Spiky Rose too. :) It’s always lovely to have choices – it’s what keeps us buying and wanting more! :D
Gosh Mag these are lovely. I love how emollient they look. I love Baby Flame and Spiky Rose.
Me too, Jac! I also like their names. :)
OMG!!! These lippies are all so pretty. Among these colors, I love the Sweet Devil Rouge. Love the color for its not too dark and not too light. I’ll def check on these.
Hi Julie,
The name is rather cute and impish. :)
Oohhhh these are lovely! Lets see some lip swatches! How pigmented are they? And is Mon Shu Pure the same color as the Mon Shu Red from Karl Lagerfeld collection?
ooh sorry for all the dupes! My computer was having weird refresh issues…
No problem, Jeannie. :)
