Meeting Urban Decay’s Eric Jimenez Again and a Sneak Preview of Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III (UD ♥ NYC)!

This month saw Sephora Singapore welcoming Eric Jimenez, Urban Decay’s International Makeup Artist, to our sunny shores again. This time, he brought the Urban Decay Naked Palette with him and held a few workshops centred on this palette. Not surprisingly, the eyeshadow set has since sold out.

To be honest, I didn’t expect that our little island would command this much attention from Urban Decay; it’s gratifying to know that the brand evidently cares about its customers far and wide. In fact, I learnt from Eric that UD will be setting up two more gondolas at Sephora Ion, expanding its range of products here – in addition to the current range, we’ll be seeing more shadow singles (yay!) a high-definition foundation and The Black Palette (S$63). The holiday items will probably come our way too – Primer Potion Professional Size (S$50) (the squeeze tube version of its highly-popular but frustrating UDPP – they finally listened!), 24/7 Jackpot box of 24/7 pencils and the Body Jewelry Temporary Tattoos (S$30), among others. Awesome, awesome news!

Eric was as every bit as warm-hearted and effervescent as he was when I first met him in February. For caring so much about the Singapore market that he personally travels here (he is the head makeup artist of Urban Decay after all), I’ve dubbed him the Makeup Artist with Heart.

We’d been corresponding and to my utter delight, he revealed that he had the Urban Decay Book of Shadows Vol. III UD ♥ NYC for me!

As lemming-worthy as the Alice in Wonderland Book of Shadows, this palette comprises beautiful complementary shades and the blues and the greens that I love so much. I thought nothing would beat the intricate pop-up detail of the Alice palette but UD outdid itself by including lights in the UD ♥ NYC set, mimicking the beautifully-lit cityscape of the Big Apple.

Believe it or not, Eric actually hand-carried the palette. When I thanked him for his sweet generosity, he had this to say:

“…because we think alike and I also enjoy your passion and your artist skills…we may be far but not too far to work with each other.”

I was extremely touched by his heartfelt message, to say the least. Thank you so much, dear Eric! ♥

Doesn’t he look radiant and happy in the photo, despite having held several beauty sessions with the public and the media? Excuse my tired appearance though – I’d just come from a bridal hair+makeup appointment at Sentosa! :P
