Here is a photo of the Christian Dior Autumn 2009 collection display with the incredibly wearable JazzClub Total Eyelook Makeup Clutch palettes. Silky and richly pigmented, Dior Beauty’s eyeshadows for fall are a sheer joy to swatch. A far cry from the chalky and sheer colours of the past, Dior’s recent shadow offerings have a luxurious, velvety texture and an ultra-smooth quality that makes them a dream to blend.
The smokey eye-lover with a penchant for taupes and browns (me, me!) will adore JazzClub Total Eyelook Makeup Clutch in Smoky Jazz 001 (S$96). Its jazz club reference is reminiscent of the structured smokes of the 1930s and I like that it contains brow and liner shades, giving true meaning to its ‘total eyelook’ moniker.
My weakness for pewters automatically drew me to 1 Couleur Ultra Smooth High Impact Eyeshadow in Argentic* 056 (S$42), a complex grey with hints of blue, purple, silver and a gentle kiss of warmth – I spy a fine smattering of soft gold shimmer – that never undermines its cool tones. Its iridescence and subdued shade is beautifully offset by 1 Couleur in Crystal White 006, a sparkly snow white that has a lovely clean gleam.
I did not have time to take photos of the rest of the collection but I hope this whets your Dior fall appetite! ;)
* Most likely a derivative of argent, which means money in French. What an apt name for such a complex shade – it certainly contains hues that are found in money; more notably coins.
